Top 10 Dynasty Football Rookie Sleepers (Fantasy Football)

Dynasty Rookie Sleepers

With the NFL draft right around the corner, people are looking forward to their rookie drafts to find the future of their dynasty teams.  We all know the stars in the draft like Barkley, Guice, and Ridley but drafts are won in that later rounds. Last year fantasy players were able to find diamonds in the rough outside of the first round in Juju Smith- Schuster (2.02), Cooper Kupp (2.06), Kareem Hunt (2.03), Deshaun Watson (3.02) and Tarik Cohen (3.08). A lot of these guys flew under the radar or had knocks on them which caused them to drop. Here’s a little bit of help to find the next big stars of the league who nobody knows.

Michael Gallup – WR – Colorado State

Dynasty Rookie Sleepers (fantasy football)

Coming out of a small school like Colorado sometimes makes it hard for a player to get noticed. In his 2 years of starting Gallup posted over 1200 receiving yards and over 7 touchdowns both years. While he did face lesser competition a lot he showed up against some of the better schools on Colorado’s schedule. Against Alabama he had 5 catches for 81 yards, Oregon Stats 11 catches for 134 yards and Boise St he had 11 catches for 102 yards. His consistency with his track record facing better talent shows he has what it takes to succeed at the next level and will give whoever gets him a nice floor.

John Kelly – RB – Tennessee

Dynasty Rookie Sleepers (fantasy football)

The junior running back from Tennessee followed in the footstep of his predecessor Alvin Kamara in having a limited amount of touches before going pro.  While they are completely different backs Kelly is a very talented prospect. At 5’9” 205 pounds, Kelly uses his compact frame to break tackles and give defenders a smaller target to hit. Kelly was able to be used running between the tackles as well as outside and put up 9 touchdowns on only 189 carries. What really should intrigue fantasy owners about Kelly is his receiving ability. Last season Kelly has 37 catches for 299 yards this should for sure get him a role in the NFL.  John Kelly has the potential to be a dynamic receiving back for a team with the talent to possibly get himself a starting job and be a fantasy steal.

Antonio Callaway – WR – Florida

Dynasty Rookie Sleepers (fantasy football)

Antonio Callaway is one of the biggest question marks in the NFL draft. After being kicked off of Florida’s football team his junior year for credit card fraud it raises a lot of questions especially with it not being his first offense. On the field, though Callaway is an absolutely intriguing prospect before the season he was viewed as a top three receiving prospect. Callaway had a blazing 4.41 forty yard dash at the combine when matched with his crisp route running and good hands will be a matchup nightmare for defensive backs. To go with his receiving ability he also was used as a punt and kick returner. If Antonio Callaway can shed his past and stick to football, dynasty players will be bragging down the line on what a steal they got.

Keke Coutee- WR – Texas Tech

Dynasty Rookie Sleepers (fantasy football)

Right now dynasty players are clamoring over Christian Kirk in ADP in the first round of rookie mocks. When looking at him though he still profiles as a slot receiver who had lower production in college. Waiting for an extra two rounds in dynasty drafts will allow you to grab Keke Coutee out of Texas Tech, the slot specialist tore up defenses all season catching 93 balls for 1429 yards and 10 touchdowns. Coutee has the polish and speed to become an instant impact of slot and PPR monster. To go with his ability to produce out of the slot and underneath Coutee has the deep speed and explosion to score any time he touches the ball. Landing on the right team could make for a really nice dynasty piece.

Nyheim Hines- RB – North Carolina State

Dynasty Rookie Sleepers (fantasy football)

Nyheim Hines converted to a running back his junior season from being a wide receiver and played outstanding football.  The two-sport track star (4.38 forty yard dash) rushed for 1112 yards and 12 touchdowns in his first season at the position. Being he came from a receiving background he runs outstanding routes out of the backfield and can split out wide. In his sophomore season, he was second on his team in receptions. Look for Hines to have a Tarik Cohen type impact as a rookie if not more because of his ridiculous speed.

DaeSean Hamilton – WR – Penn State

DeaSean Hamilton is a four-year starter at Penn State who spent his entire career in the shadows of players like Sequon Barkley and Mike Gesicki. Working primarily out of the slot Hamilton is quick, a good route runner and knows how to get open. His skill set should translate into a fairly fast impact in the NFL regardless of the landing spot.

Kyle Lauletta- QB- Richmond

Dynasty Rookie Sleepers (fantasy football)

While all of the hype is on the big 5 QB’s Kyle Lauletta has slid under the radar. The signal-caller out of Richmond is accurate has a quick release and mobile. Where Lauletta lacks in arm strength he makes up for with his mechanics and decision making. He could end up sitting a year or two but definitely has the talent to be an effective starter in the NFL ala Alex Smith. Specifically, in 2 QB leagues, he is worth the late round pick.

Simmie Cobbs JR – WR – Indiana

Dynasty Rookie Sleepers (fantasy football)

Simmie Cobbs Jr is a roller coaster of a prospect. Coming in at 6’3”220 pounds he has the prototypical size you want for a receiver. He’s fantastic at using his big frame to create separation from defenders to make plays. He also has a knack for making spectacular catches. On the flip side, he drops easy balls and is inconsistent. If Cobbs can put it all together the sky’s the limit on his talent and definitely worth the chance.

Roc Thomas – RB -Jacksonville St

Dynasty Rookie Sleepers (fantasy football)

Roc Thomas started out his college career at Auburn as a top 5 running back recruit to Auburn before having his career there derailed by injuries.  His senior season at JSU he rushed for 1065 yards and 13 touchdowns averaging 6.0 yards a carry. On top of his good rushing totals, he proved that he could be effective in the receiving game catching another 21 balls. Thomas is an elusive runner in space and when he commits to the whole he can break the big play. His size may limit his amount of carries in the NFL but the talent is there to be a good PPR asset.

Richie James – WR – Middle Tennessee St.

Dynasty Rookie Sleepers (fantasy football)

Richie James is another receiver who profiles for the slot for an NFL team.  At 5’9” 178 pounds, he is not the ideal size you want in a receiver but don’t let the size fool you James is a playmaker.  James has back to back 100 reception seasons with over 1300 yards. James was used all over the field running the full route tree but what really makes him special is his ability to run after the catch. He’s absolutely electric in open field. Landing on a team whose creative enough to get the ball in his hands could pay huge dividends in fantasy especially if your league has a bonus for returning.
