It’s A Showdown In Washington!!!

After what I considered a good week one to start the year, we get a bad start to week two for fantasy purposes. This isn’t a matchup that I’m looking forward to writing about for my first article in months. Nonetheless, it’s NFL DFS season now and I can’t complain. I’m just glad it’s back. I know if you are a degenerate like me, the matchup doesn’t matter. The only thing that does matter is seeing the lineups in the green at the end of the game. That is what I’m here for, to help make it easier on you and build that bankroll.

The plan is to be able to cover the Thursday night, and the Monday night showdowns. The occasional Sunday could be done also. For the ones that do follow me on Twitter and have reached out with questions, you can follow me @aaronbarnett221. I’m more than happy to answer any questions or concerns you might have. Now, lets get down to the part you all are here for.

When it comes to showdown slates, you have to tell a story with your lineup. Whichever game script you like for that team, you need the story to make sense for them. We all know lineup stacks and correlating our players is more popular than ever.

Vegas news: WFT -3 o/u 40.5

In this game, WFT vs. Giants, it’s a division rivalry and on a short week. The game is going to be ugly from a fantasy standpoint in my opinion. We have injury news that could make some decisions easier, but regardless of whether Saquon Barkley plays or not, I don’t want much exposure to him. The Giants still have the training wheels on him and a short week doesn’t leave me to believe they’re going to feed him more than they did in week one. On the other side, Ryan Fitzpatrick is out and that can limit some of the passing game pieces for Washington.

Antonio Gibson: ($9,600)– He is likely the most popular player on the slate, and for good reason. The Broncos running backs combined for 25 carries and 146 yards against the Giants last week. That is almost six yards per carry. We know Gibson basically has a floor of 20 carries and targets combined each week, and with his talent and matchup, I like the chances of him having a good game. They will want to limit how much they rely on Taylor Heinicke and feeding Gibson is the best way to do that. So, I expect a heavy dose of Gibson and letting the defense keep the Giants offense in check. That is the best correlation I can see so far. The Washington defense and Gibson.

Terry Mclaurin: ($9,000)– I don’t like Scary Terry as much as I would with Fitzmagic at the helm, but I think Heinicke can and will get the ball to Terry more this week. That is how he is going to make his money over these next few weeks. He is going to lean on Gibson and Terry and I believe that starts to show more Thursday night. It is just a gut feeling, but I think we see Terry get loose for a long touchdown in this one. In my early builds, I have Gibson, Mclaurin, and the Washington defense and there is still enough left to make it look solid. That is how most of my lineups will start and just rotating the three at Captain.

Washington Defense: ($5,600)– There isn’t a lot to say about why to play them. The Giants offensive line is bad, and this defensive line is one of the best in the league at getting pressure. We know how bad the Giants offensive line is, and we know how much Daniel “Fumblina” Jones likes to turn the ball over. Those factors make me think the Washington defense is going to have a big game in real life and for fantasy purposes. They might be the favorite play for everybody on the slate.

Dyami Brown: ($1,400)– Brown is the cheap punt play that I like for either side. He seems to be the number two receiver for now and actually was tied for the most targets on the team. He didn’t do anything with those targets, but I expect that to change for a receiver with his type of talents. If you need a cheap play, this is where I would look.

Saquon Barkley: ($10,000)- As I mentioned earlier, the Giants still have the training wheels on Barkley and on a short week I don’t see that changing. There is no reason to pay this price tag until we know he is going to start getting a more normal workload. I’m not even thinking about starting him in redraft leagues either. We know the talent is there and that’s not the question. He has a lot going against him right now. The injury or health concern, the bad offensive line, and not getting a normal workload. All of those lead me to almost completely fading him. So, naturally, if I completely fade him, he will have a huge game on limited work. I would look at the Giants passing game and completely fade the running game.

Sterling Shepherd: ($8,000)- Shepherd had a big week one, and that may lead people to go his way because of the box score stats. That’s not why I’m looking his way. With the Kenny Golladay signing and the drafting of Kadarius Toney, most people threw Shepherd to the side. In-game one he showed why that was a mistake. These new guys don’t have the chemistry with Daniel Jones that Shepherd has, and in the early season that chemistry will be relied on, especially when you have a bad offensive line. For me, this is my favorite play on the Giants side.

Devontae Booker: ($2,800)– With it being a short week there is a good chance that Barkley has another light workload. That could lead to more touches for Booker who is the number two back. I’m not saying that he has a good game or anything like that, but I do think at his price there could be some value.

Kyle Rudolph: ($3,200)- The Giants have ruled Evan Engram out again, so that opens the door for Rudolph again. He isn’t going to put up a big stat line, but he did have five targets last week. Those targets will usually be around the red-zone. At his price if he falls into the end-zone he will pay the cheap price tag off. On the Giants side there isn’t much I like, but I do think that is where the value can be found in this one, and that’s what I plan to do.

Favorite Captains: Antonio Gibson, Terry Mclaurin, Washington Defense, Sterling Shepherd

Cheap Captains: Dyami Brown, Devontae Booker

Other options: Dustin Hopkins, Graham Gano, Darius Slayton, Logan Thomas
