MLB DFS DraftKings Lineup Advice for 5/3
For Monday 5/3, fantasy managers will have a slate of ten games from which to select from. In looking at the DFS FPTS(fantasy points per game), this slate is much more hitter-friendly than pitcher-friendly. As mentioned in my DFS strategy overview article, I always select pitchers that have averaged at least 17.0 FPTS/game. There are only four pitchers(with two more averaging between 16 and 17) that fit that bill.
Pitchers
While one could pay up for Glasnow($10,300 @ Angels), I will save a little money to invest on hitters. My top picks are as follows:
Top Tier:
Walker Buehler(LAD) $9600 @ Cubs-at 19.2 FPTS, Buehler is my top pick.
Aaron Civale(Indians) $8900 @ Royals Civale is averaging 20.5 FPTS and has an 2.96 ERA (0.92 WHIP) with a 4-0 record on the season.
Others I like:
Matz(Blue Jays) $8400 @ A’s
Wainwright(Cardinals) $8000 vs Mets
Ohtani(Angels) $7600 vs Rays
Tyler Anderson(Pirates) $7k at Padres
Wainwright is coming off the Covid list and has averaged 30.4 FPTS over his last two games. Out of the four options listed above, he would be my preferred play. If one is looking for a basement bargain, they could do worse than Anderson. His peripherals are solid(3.38 ERA/1.24 WHIP) and he won a 5-1 game against these same Padres on April 14th.
Hitters
As mentioned above, I am leaning towards a Buehler/Wainwright stack which would cost $17,600(just shy of the $18k I average throughout the year). This will allow me to spend just slightly more on hitting. I will list my cheaper alternatives first and then my top hitter selections last.

Lower Tier:
Francisco Mejia(C-Rays) $3500 @ Angels
Luis Arraez(2B-Twins) $3800 vs Rangers
Ty France(2B-Mariners) $3900 vs Orioles
Erik Gonzalez(SS-Pirates) $3300 @ Padres
Luis Urias(SS-Brewers) $3400 @ Phillies
Alec Bohm(3B-Phillies) $3800 vs Brewers
Maikel Franco(3B Orioles) $3700@ Mariners
Travis Shaw(3B-Brewers) $3500 @ Phillies
Tyler O’Neill(OF-Cardinals) $2800 vs Mets
AJ Pollock(OF-Dodgers) $3500 @ Cubs
Mitch Haniger(OF-Mariners) $3700 vs Orioles
Top Tier:
As you can tell, there are several lower tier hitting and less expensive pitching options available. This will allow an opportunity to select at least four upper tier hitting options. I will list a couple at each position that are at the best price points.
Catcher
Buster Ppsey(Giants) $4800 @ Rockies
Salvador Perez(Royals) $5200 vs Indians
First Base
Matt Olson(A’s) $4400 vs Blue Jays
Jared Walsh(Angels) $4500 vs Rays
First base is exceedingly deep in tomorrow’s slate with several good price points. There really is no point in paying up with this much available value on the board.
Second Base
Chris Taylor(Dodgers) $4300 @ Cubs
Nick Solak(Rangers) $4900 @ Twins
Shortstop
Joey Wendle(Rays) $4400 @ Angels
Javy Baez(Cubs) $4900 vs Dodgers
Third Base
Kyle Seager(Mariners) $4200 vs Orioles
Nelson Arenado(Cardinals) $4700 vs Mets
Fielders
In terms of outfield, there are no really great price plays between $4k and $5,400. If you have saved the money previously, you can pay up for Kris Bryant($5400), Nelson Cruz($5900). Byron Buxton($5900) and Mike Trout($6200).
Stacks
in terms of stacks, I am a big fan of stacking the Cardinals(vs Mets) and Dodger(at Cubs). A more expensive stack of the Padres(vs Pirates) can be created if the fantasy manager instills Tyler Anderson($7k) in their lineups, saving approximately $1,600.
