MLB DFS FanDuel: Top Pitching Options 5/13/16

What’s up, GF2 fans! I typically cover NBA DFS for you guys but this week I’m going to be providing you all with some MLB DFS FanDuel top pitching options! I’ll be diving into some BVP matchups that should give you all some clarity on who will be the right guys to play for Friday’s main slate. There aren’t a ton of top-tier options taking the field for this slate, so it will benefit you all to take a look at some of these mid-tier options that will be available.

So, here’s my MLB DFS FanDuel top pitching options for 5/13/16:

Chris Sale, @ Yankees ($12,000)

Sale is by far the most expensive and best overall option for Friday’s slate. He’s been stellar all season long for the White Sox and should be able to dominate this porous Yankees lineup. So far this season, Sale has averaged a massive 49.4 FanDuel points per outing for Chicago and should be a staple to many of your cash game lineups. Over their career against Sale, this current Yankees lineup have gone just 15-for-68 with a .221 batting average and a 28:5 strikeout to walk ratio. For my GPP lineups, I plan on looking elsewhere for a starting pitcher but wouldn’t fault you guys for rolling with Sale.

Steven Wright, vs. Astros ($8,800)

I really like Wright for this slate but unfortunately, there is one problem with locking him into your lineups. As of right now, there is roughly a 60% chance of rain around game-time in Boston, so without a doubt keep your eye on the forecast. So far this season, Wright has quietly been a beautiful DFS option, averaging a monstrous 42.2 FanDuel points per game for the Red Sox. Over their career against him, this current Houston lineup has gone 5-for-26 with a .192 batting average and eight strikeouts. In three of his last four games, Wright has scored his owners 50+ FD points per outing, so he’s very capable of putting in a big night.

Chris Tillman, vs. Tigers ($7,900)

I know, I know Tillman can be a scary option because he can implode on any given day but he’s looked great as of late. Over his last three games, he’s averaged a huge 56.3 FanDuel points per game for his owners and draws a great matchup for Friday night. Over their career against Tillman, this current Detroit lineup has gone just 29-for-120 for a .242 batting average and a 27:4 strikeout to walk ratio. So far this year, he’s averaged a cool 34.9 FanDuel points per outing for the Orioles and should surpass that total for this slate.

Justin Verlander, @ Orioles ($7,800)

Verlander hasn’t been near as dominant in 2016 as he was in past seasons. So far this year, he’s only averaged 28.6 FanDuel points per outing for his DFS owners but he’s one of my favorite value plays for this entire slate. Over their career against Verlander, this current Baltimore lineup has gone 29-for-142 with a .204 batting average and a 43:9 strikeout to walk ratio. Thankfully, in his last game versus the Rangers, Verlander came through for our lineups, scoring a super solid 48 FanDuel points.

R.A. Dickey, @ Rangers ($7,000)

These last couple of picks are going to be your riskiest plays of the night but could pay off massively if they come through. Dickey has been terrible all season long, averaging just 18.4 FanDuel points per game for Toronto. But for some unknown reason, the guy typically dominates this Texas lineup. Over their career against Dickey, this current Rangers lineup has gone 22-for-101 with a .218 batting average and a 20:3 strikeout to walk ratio. Yes, it’s dangerous to play a pitcher in a big time hitters park like what the Rangers have but if his past outings repeat for this slate, then Dickey will win you some cash!

Ricky Nolasco, @ Indians ($6,400)

If you’re digging this deep into the pitchers value bin, then hopefully, your big time hitters come through. Thankfully,  Nolasco has a big shot of having a sneaky good game. Over their career against Nolasco, this current Cleveland lineup has gone just 22-for-110 for a .200 batting average and a 27:6 strikeout to walk ratio. So far this season, he’s actually been a rather consistent fantasy option, averaging 28.2 FanDuel points per outing for this Twins. There are a ton of righties in this Indians lineup, so that too bodes well for his DFS owners.
