Pitching
Joe Ross $7,700 @ PHI
Younger brother of Padres’ ace Tyson Ross, this kid has incredible stuff, and even more upside than Tyson. Ross came into the league last year at just 21, and showed excellent control at such a young age and was a reliable, inexpensive fantasy option. Ross had a great first outing of the season, going 7 innings, striking out 5 and grabbing the win against the Marlins. Ross has a cakewalk of a matchup tonight against the Phillies, who had the 3rd worst offense in baseball last year and have shown more of the same again this season. Ross is a steal tonight at just $7,700, he’s our pitcher for cash games on FanDuel without a doubt.
Zack Greinke $10,000 @ SD
It probably hasn’t been the start Diamondbacks fans were hoping for as Greinke is 0-2, with a 9.90 ERA on the young season. However, these last couple starts have been outliers, Greinke was arguably the most dominant pitcher is the majors last year, posting a 1.66 ERA as a starter! Petco Park is a pitcher friendly park not only because of the dimensions, but also because the Padre’s offense plays in it…The Padres have made guys like Velasquez and Eickhoff look like Cy Young candidates over the past few games, they just can’t seem to string hits together and they especially struggle at hitting home runs. Greinke has had great success against San Diego in his career, as Padres’ hitters are batting just .204 against him, with just 7 extra base hits in 181 at-bats. DraftKings has discounted Greinke’s price a bit and he’s one of the cheaper aces on the slate tonight. Gotta love Grienke at just $10,000 tonight in pitcher-friendly Petco Park.
Sneaky GPP Play- Edison Volquez
Lineup
George Springer $5,000 vs. DET
There are way too many big name hitters with great matchups on the slate tonight. The entire Houston team has an excellent matchup tonight against Mike Pelfrey and his 14.72 ERA. Pelfrey got shelled in his first outing of the season against the Yankees, allowing 6 earned runs in 3 and 2/3s innings. The Astros have one of the best offenses in baseball, their lineup from top to bottom is stacked with incredible, young talent, Springer, Correa, Altuve, Gomez, White. You can’t miss.
Jose Bautista $4,900 @ BOS
Another stack with unlimited potential every night out: The Toronto Blue Jays. Although they haven’t lived up to their potential this season, they have the firepower to score at will no matter who takes the mound. Bautista is 13 for 28 lifetime against Porcello, and hit 2 home runs off of him earlier in the year. Bautista has been an extremely consistent fantasy option this season, batting .300 and hitting home runs as usual. All Toronto batters have had great BVP against Porcello in their careers.
Brian McCann $3,600 vs. SEA
Catcher is the trickiest position to get right when it comes to fantasy, since most managers look for defense over offense at the position. I’m in shock that McCann is just $3,600, McCann has been on fire this season, hitting .455(when he’s played) with 2 home runs. He’s been dealing with a toe injury, but is back to full health again and taking on righty Nathan Karns in lefty-friendly Yankee Stadium. Karns allowed 4 earned runs to the A’s in his first start of the season, and with the plethora of left-handed bats that Yankees have, New York Lefties should be a safe cash game stack tonight.
Jeremy Hazelbaker $3,700 vs. CIN
Everyone is raving about Trevor Story, but he may have some competition for rookie of the year in Jeremy Hazelbecker. Hazelbecker is batting .481 with 3 home runs and an incredible 1.484 OPS! DraftKings has raised the prices on rookie phenoms, Story and Tyler White to $4,500+ but Hazelbaker has yet to cross the $4,000 mark. Hazelbaker is averaging 13.14 DK points/game over the last week and a half, although he’s not $2,500 like he was earlier in the week, he still has tremendous value at just $3,700 tonight against Cincinnati.
Dee Gordon $4,900 vs. ATL
All Marlins will be low owned tonight, but they definitely have some potential to do damage in GPP. The Marlins lineup is sneaky good, with guys like Gordon, Yelich, Ozuna, Prado, and then Giancarlo Stanton to hit them all home. The Marlins as a team are batting an impressive .285 to start the season, they can definitely string hits together and score runs in a hurry. The one problem they have is they don’t really have anybody who can consistently hit home runs besides Stanton. Even so they can steal bases, hit triples, and get on base. Taking on Williams Perez tonight, loving the Marlins for a sneaky GPP stack.
