NBA DFS Draftkings 10/24
NBA DFS Draftkings 10/24
We have a big slate with 11 games on the NBA schedule tonight. I will be going through each position and writing up a couple plays that I think will do well. This season is off to an insanely fast-paced start and you can bet we will be targeting those games now that it seems there is at least a total of 230 or higher at least once a night.
I will be breaking this slate down into 3 easy categories for each position.
VALUE PLAY – This play will be under $5,000
SMASH PLAY – Best play that will exceed normal expectations of a player
NO THANKS – Popular play that I will be avoiding
Point Guard
VALUE PLAY – TJ McConnell – ($4,000) At $4,000 he is a solid bargain as he only needs to get to 20 fantasy points to reach 5x. He’s a stat sheet stuffer he was seeing 20-25 minutes a night in 2 of his first 3 games. Ben Simmons is looking doubtful to play which would possibly lead him to even more minutes and usage.
SMASH PLAY – Kemba Walker – ($8,400) Kemba’s usage is through the roof right now. He’s taken 29, 16, 31, and 22 shot attempts in his first 4 games so far. He’s also topped 50+ fantasy points in two of them. It is also a plus that he gets to face a bad Chicago Bulls defense who is now without arguably their best wing defender in Kris Dunn for a couple of weeks.
NO THANKS – Lonzo Ball – ($6,300) We all know what went down with Rondo and Ingram getting suspended for a few games and they are both out for this game. I think people will gravitate to Lonzo Ball because he’s the starter but with LeBron in town now handling the ball and the early season emergence of Josh Hart, I’ll pass on Lonzo.
Shooting Guard
VALUE PLAY – Josh Okogie – ($3,400) The rookie has been getting some solid run early on for the Wolves with 29 and 24 minutes in the first two games. Andrew Wiggins is looking questionable for the next game which would lead to more minutes for Okogie. If he can get his 3 point shot going in a game he will have 20 real points upside.
SMASH PLAY – Devin Booker – ($8,300) Let me just start out by saying the over/under for this game is at 236.5. That’s a lot of points. Booker is the focal point of the Sun’s offense and is in a huge pace up game vs. the Lakers. He’s handling the ball a lot more this season too with no real point guard on the Suns team. He’s averaging almost 7 assists so far this season.
NO THANKS – Demar DeRozan ($7,900) He is actually seeing very high usage for the Spurs early on, which shouldn’t be a surprise. However, he’s coming off a game where he put up 66.5 fantasy points in an overtime game vs. the Lakers. San Antonio is one of the slowest paced teams in the league this season and the over/under reflects that at 212. He should see stifling Victor Oladipo defense as well. I’ll be fading him coming off a monster game.
Small Forward
VALUE PLAY – Rodney Mcgruder ($4,900) When you can get a player under $5,000 averaging around 35+ minutes a night, you’re starting your DFS roster off in a good way. Mcgruder is doing just that. He can get you a little bit of everything as well with 8 and 10 rebounds in his last 2 games. The Heat are still dealing with injuries so he’s locked into his role for now.

SMASH PLAY – LeBron James ($11,100) I know, I know. LeBron James is an obvious beast. As I stated earlier he gets the Suns in what should be a high scoring game. The fact that the Lakers are 0-3 will light some fire under LeBron and he could very well take this game over early and often. He is also cheaper than Harden and Giannis and I think he outscores both.
NO THANKS – Kyle Kuzma ($6,900) He will be a very popular play coming off his 52.5 fantasy output. However, it took an overtime game and he didn’t really add too much outside of scoring 37 points on 60% shooting. I think he comes back down to earth here as LeBron takes this game over.
Power Forward
VALUE PLAY – Larry Nance ($4,600) We’ve seen Nance put up some monster games in the past for the Cavs. In his first game back he put up 19.5 fantasy points in 17 minutes. The Cavs have not played very good defense up to this point so the coach might want to give one of his more talented players some more run here to see if he can spark anything.
SMASH PLAY – Kevin Love ($8,800) This is the rebounding machine I remember in Minnesota. He’s back to being a double-double machine now that LeBron is out of town. He’s put up 19 and 17 rebounds in his last two games. If he can get his shooting percentage up even 10 points to around 42%, we could easily be talking 50+ fantasy points a night being the normal for Love soon.
NO THANKS – Bobby Portis ($6,900) I have to admit that I’m a huge Bobby Portis fan. For whatever reason the though the Bulls don’t seem to want to unleash the man fully. Markkanen is still out for a bit so Portis has been playing well. The usage just isn’t quite there and is very inconsistent. And at his $6,900 price point you can find plenty of other options.
Center
VALUE PLAY – Wendell Carter Jr. ($4,000) I actually like Carter Jr. to get a double-double tonight. He played 32 minutes in his last game and grabbed 9 boards. He only shot 2-7 from the floor but he was getting good looks. Charlotte has a lot of bigs that will need to be covered so expect Carter Jr. to get another 30 minutes of cheap value again.
SMASH PLAY – Deandre Ayton ($7,300) I would just like to know who on the Lakers is going to guard this guy? For me, the answer is nobody will be able to. Ayton should tear the Lakers apart in a very high scoring game. He’s scored above 45 fantasy points 2 of 3 games and I think we’re still getting a rookie price on him as his price will keep going up.
NO THANKS – Karl-Anthony Town ($8,200) I’m eagerly awaiting the Wolves to trade Butler so we can get back to KAT doing KAT things. He’s averaging only 35.6 fantasy points a game right now. Until we can see KAT getting back to his automatic nightly double-double lines, I don’t think he can be used.
