NBA Preview: How Good Are The Lakers In 2021?

The Los Angeles Lakers once again emerge as the favorite to win the NBA Finals by somehow adding even more talent to their roster.

The addition of Montrezl Harrell, current Sixth Man of the Year, adds more forward depth as Lebron James commits more to the Point Guard roll. The forward depth doesn’t stop with the addition of veteran Marc Gasol. It’s no secret Gasol is past his prime and not the scoring threat he used to be. He will, however, provide minute relief for Davis, James, and Harrell. This allows fresher legs in the playoffs on a shortened break between seasons, which James has expressed concern over load-management. The addition of pick and roll guard Dennis Schroder immensely helps Anthony Davis. This opens up even more offense for the young talented forward.

The Lakers are simply put, stacked. This team will be very hard to beat. They will be getting the best out of every team they play. From a betting perspective, there is always value when the Lakers are plus on the money line. Value will also be found in lines -4.0 or below regardless of who they play. I would also bet money on this team to repeat if you can find a plus line. The line will be better early in the season and will go most likely go negative by mid-season.

The Lakers also have a bet prop bet to hammer this season. Anthony Davis as the Most Valuable Player. All of the off-season acquisitions force teams to fully cover everyone on the floor as a scoring threat, freeing up Davis to score close to 30 PPG.

I am projecting this team to finish 61-21 in the regular season and finish first in the Western Conference.
