NFL DFS DraftKings GPP Plays for Conference Championships

The moment has finally arrived. Football season always seems to come and go faster than any other sport. Just last week it felt as though we were making our projections for Week 1. Now we find out who’s going to the Super Bowl. With just 2 games scheduled, there’s not a lot to choose from in daily fantasy but this is the week you’ll want to take a flyer on that guy who’s ready to breakout. Here’s our final NFL DFS DraftKings GPP Plays for the season.

NFL DFS DraftKings GPP Plays for Conference Championship Weekend

DailyFantasyNerd DraftKings GPP Play of the Day

RB Ty Montgomery (GB) @ ATL $5,600

There are a lot more intriguing options in the NFC Conference Championship than there are in the AFC this week. That is to be expected with two powerhouse offenses with average defenses. Ty Montgomery had a great game last week against Dallas, scoring twice off of 11 carries. He also caught the ball six times, which makes him an intriguing play again this week. The Packers have been running without a true running back for a majority of the season, and Ty has benefited coming out of the backfield as a WR/RB combo. There’s nothing intimidating about the Falcons defense that would lead me to believe they’ll be able to contain the dual threat receiver.

Quarterbacks

Aaron Rodgers (GB) @ ATL $8,100

This man needs no introduction. All of the quarterbacks remaining in the playoffs are elite, but Rodgers is on another level at the moment. He’s averaging over 34 fantasy points per game in the Packers last four contests. In addition, he now gets to take on a Falcons defense that is ranked 31st in the league against quarterbacks. It’s expected to be a shootout in Atlanta, and Rodgers ceiling will be through the roof.

Matt Ryan (ATL) vs. GB $7,700

If this is starting to look familiar to last week’s projections I promise it’s not the same. It’s just that these two are the hottest fantasy quarterbacks going right now. Also, given that the Patriots and Steelers both have pretty stellar defenses, I’m not convinced that Brady or Big Ben could be worthy contrarian plays.

Ryan was very impressive in the Falcons divisional round win over the Seahawks. He has now thrown multiple touchdown passes in five consecutive games without throwing a pick. It should be noted that he threw three in Atlanta’s victory earlier this year over Green Bay.

Running Backs

Dion Lewis (NE) vs. PIT $5,300

It’s always a see-saw battle when trying to figure out which New England running back will be the flavor of the week. Last week, I made the mistake of giving LeGarrette Blount the edge against Houston, but Dion Lewis dominated instead with three touchdowns. Lewis became the first player in NFL history to record a rushing, receiving, and returning touchdown in a playoff game. He’s now received double digit carries in four consecutive games, pushing Blount into a more backup and goal line role. Lewis’ involvement as a pass catcher only adds to his value.

Tevin Coleman (ATL) vs. GB $4,800

The Falcons have the best running back combo in the league. Devonta Freeman continues to shine as the lead back, but Coleman brings a lot of value as well, and is considerably cheaper on DraftKings. The matchup against the Packers run defense is not ideal, but Coleman could be a rare contrarian play for Sunday. Coleman is averaging 6.8 yards per carry in the last three games now, and has at least 14.9 fantasy points in that span.

Wide Receivers

Julian Edelman (NE) vs. PIT $7,300

The increase in Edelman’s price is irritating to some degree, but given his track record lately, it’s also understandable. In the Patriots last two games against Miami to end the regular season, and last week’s divisional against Houston, Edelman has racked up 16 receptions for 288 yards and a touchdown. Edelman doesn’t need to score touchdowns in order to be productive, evidenced by his mere three touchdowns all season long. He remains Tom Brady‘s number one target, and is a lock to see double digit targets.

Mohamed Sanu (ATL) vs. GB $4,500

Sanu has been more involved in the Falcons offense as of late. His veteran leadership and playoff experience are just some of the reasons Atlanta signed him to an offseason deal. Not only has Sanu scored in each of the past two games, but he had his best game of the season against Green Bay. In Week 8, he corralled in nine receptions for 84 yards and a touchdown. While he’s not expected to put up similar numbers, he brings great value at a respectable price.

Tight Ends

Jared Cook (GB) @ ATL $5,100

Obviously, there are not a lot of great options this weekend at the tight end position. Jared Cook is expected to have the highest ownership, and for good reason. Cook has been on a terror as of late in the Green Bay offense, showing why the Packers went out and snagged him this offseason. His performance last week was truly incredible, capped by that amazing catch at the end to setup the game-winning field goal. The big jump in price was to be expected as he is the best tight end option of the week.

Defense

New England vs. PIT $4,000

The real answer for defense this week is None of the Above. Seriously, I don’t want to go up against any of these quarterbacks. But since we have to choose a defense, I’d take New England by process of elimination. Unfortunately, it seems DraftKings would agree as the Patriots are near twice the price of the other teams. They did lead the league in points allowed this year, however, which helps me lead in their favor. In contrast, however, this is not a week to believe that a defense will get you a high amount of points, and therefore, could be better to choose elsewhere in order to save payroll for other positions.
