NFL DFS FanDuel GPP Plays for Week 8
Welcome to the Week 8 edition of the NFL DFS FanDuel GPP plays. This article will focus on the main slate on FanDuel, which only features 10 games this week since six teams are on the bye and there is another game in London. Just as a reminder, this article is not meant to be an actual FanDuel GPP lineup, but rather an article focusing on some good stand-alone options for your GPP lineup. Let’s go ahead and take a look at my favorite GPP options for Week 8.
NFL DFS FanDuel GPP Plays for Week 8
DailyFantasyNerd FanDuel GPP Play of the Day
Brock Osweiler (HOU) vs. DET $6,600
Brock Osweiler is my DailyFantasyNerd FanDuel GPP play of the day. If ever there was a time to use Osweiler, it would be this week against the Lions. The Lions have allowed the most FanDuel points to quarterbacks this season and have allowed at least one passing touchdown in every game this season and at least two in every game except for one. Osweiler has been far from great this season, but he has had some success in favorable matchups this season, throwing for multiple touchdowns against the Bears, Titans, and Colts this year.
Quarterbacks
Drew Brees (NO) vs. SEA $8,000
Many people will likely avoid Drew Brees due to the matchup against the Seahawks. However, Brees is an elite quarterback who performs much better at home than he does on the road. Also, despite shutting down a struggling Carson Palmer in Week 7, the Seahawks are not nearly as dominant on the road as they are at home. Fire up Brees in your GPPs at low ownership.
Matthew Stafford (DET) @ HOU $7,700
Matthew Stafford has been outstanding this season, scoring the fourth-most FanDuel points for quarterbacks this year. Although I do not trust him in cash games this week, I am willing to use him in a GPP lineup. The Lions’ offense is not built to run the ball which has resulted in Stafford throwing the ball on average 34 times per game. That trend should continue in Week 8 against the Texans, and he has just as much upside as any other quarterback on the slate.
Running Backs
Ezekiel Elliott (DAL) vs. PHI $8,500
I fully expect Ezekiel Elliott to fly under the radar this week since there are several great mid tier options who will likely come in at higher ownership. Elliott has been absolutely amazing in his rookie campaign with 133.5 yards per game and averaging 5.1 yards per carry this season. Elliott should be able to pick up right where he left off prior to the Cowboys Week 7 bye, in a matchup against a middle of the pack Eagles’ rushing defense.
Lamar Miller (HOU) vs. DET $7,400
Lamar Miller has only had one huge game so far in 2016, but I sense that more are coming. Outside of two blowout losses to the Vikings and the Broncos, Miller is averaging 23 carries per game. The Lions are not nearly as dominant against the run this year as they have been in years past, so Miller very well could bust out this week at low ownership.

Melvin Gordon (SD) @ DEN $7,200
If there is a position that you can attack the Broncos’ defense with, it is at running back since they are only middle of the pack against the run this season. Melvin Gordon has not been efficient at all this year as seen by his meager 3.3 yards per carry. However, the volume is there and he has been getting into the end zone quite a bit this season with 10 touchdowns. I definitely do not recommend Gordon for cash games this week, but he very well could be a sneaky GPP option who has a chance at finding the endzone multiple times in this game.
Wide Receivers
Terrelle Pryor (CLE) vs. NYJ $6,900
Another player who will likely be low owned this week is Terrelle Pryor. Pryor had a rough game against the Bengals, but don’t let that deter you from using him in GPP contests in Week 8. Pryor has been a focal point of the Browns’ offense and despite name recognition, Darrelle Revis is not a good cornerback anymore. Pryor has multiple touchdown upside and could very well be a difference maker in your GPP contests.
Dez Bryant (DAL) vs. PHI $6,500
Dez Bryant is definitely a GPP option only, since it will be hard to trust him in his first game back from his injury. Bryant has elite talent is capable of making a big at any moment in the game. With Dak Prescott being extremely efficient this season, Bryant could have a great day against the Eagles at extremely low ownership.
Brandin Cooks (NO) vs. SEA $7,200
Another likely low owned player with tremendous upside is Brandin Cooks. The matchup is not great on paper against the Seahawks, but the Saints’ offense has historically performed great at home and the Seahawks aren’t nearly as scary away from Seattle.
Tight Ends
Greg Olsen (CAR) vs. ARI $7,400
Greg Olsen has been the top tight end this season averaging 10 targets, 6.5 receptions and 101.7 receiving yards per game. He has a tough matchup against the Cardinals in Week 8, which should lower his ownership percentage significantly this week. The Cardinals have a good defensive unit, but they have not had to defend an elite caliber tight end this season, outside of Jimmy Graham. Olsen is the perfect fit for you GPP lineups and has potential to separate you from the pack.
Cameron Brate (TB) vs. OAK $5,200
Cameron Brate had a disappointing performance in Week 7 against the 49ers. However, this had more to with the game flow than Brate. The Buccaneers were leading for most of the game, so the Buccaneers kept feeding the ball to Jacquizz Rodgers to eat the clock. The Raiders should make this a much more competitive game with their offense, and this is a great matchup for Brate since the Raiders have allowed the fifth-most FanDuel points to opposing tight ends this season.
Defense
Cardinals (ARI) @ CAR $4,600
Another cheap GPP option, who will likely fly under the radar this week is Arizona defense. The Panthers are not playing nearly as good as they were in 2015. In fact, they have allowed the third-most FanDuel points to opposing defenses so far this season. The Cardinals have some big playmakers on defense and special teams, so they are capable of racking up sacks in a hurry or even scoring a touchdown.
Texans (HOU) vs. DET $4,300
If you are looking for a cheap under the radar defense for your GPPs this week and you are not using Matthew Stafford, consider using the Texans’ defense. The loss of JJ Watt has made things difficult for the Texans’ defensive unit, but they still have been solid at home this season. The matchup does not look good on paper, but the Lions will likely have to throw the ball a lot once again this week, and the Texans’ strength this year has been the ability to defend the pass.
