NFL DFS FanDuel Lineup For Week 3, Thursday 9/24

Every week during the NFL season I’ll be publishing my cash game line up for FanDuel and the rationale behind all my selections. After a great week 1, we suffered through injuries and disappointing performances in week 2. Hopefully we can get back on track in week 3.

Again, this is my cash game line-up, and while I always put it in a few GPPs, there are other players at a couple of positions better suited for tournaments.

Finally, this is my Thursday night cash LU. Since I’m using Jordan Reed from the Thursday night game, but I’ll be publishing another line up for the Sunday slate, later in the week.

QB Carson Palmer ($8,100) With the Cardinals favored at home, this is not the classic game flow pick for cash games, but I think it’s a safe one. Palmer has been on fire this season, scoring 25.68 and 22.2 fantasy points in his two games. He’s also a very consistent player, which is something we covet, averaging 17.8 fantasy points a game last season before he was injured. This week Palmer faces a 49ers defense that was absolutely decimated by the Ben Roethlisberger of the Steelers to the tune of 369 yards and 3 touchdowns. Although his price has risen slightly, Palmer is still a safe bet to reach value.

RB Le’Veon Bell ($8,800) He’s back!!  After serving a two game suspension, RB Le’Veon Bell gets to face a Rams defense that was gouged for over 150 yards on the ground by the Redskins. Bell was arguably the best running back in the NFL last season and is a true three down back, as he’s heavily involved in the passing game which further elevates his floor. Last season Bell accounted for over 2000 all-purpose yards and averaged 20.6 fantasy points per game. With the Steelers installed as slight favorites by Vegas, this game sets up beautifully for Bell.

RB Jonathan Stewart ($6,500) The Panthers are favored at home against a Saints defense that was ranked last in the NFL against the run last season and has continued to struggle this year as well. In Stewart’s last game against New Orleans, Stewart parlayed 20 carries into 155 yards and a touchdown. He’s also one the least expensive three down backs on the slate. Finally, QB Drew Brees is questionable for this game and his absence (or even his play while less than 100%) should provide the Panthers with Several short fields.

WR Julian Edelman ($7,700) Julian Edelman has been targeted an absurd 31 times in 2 games this season, including 19 last week. He’s responded with consecutive 11 catch, 97 yard performances. He’s QB Tom Brady‘s favorite receiver and while his current pace probably isn’t sustainable, with Brandon LaFell sidelined he’ll continue to get the lion’s share of the targets. This week he’ll face the Jaguars, who have up over 350 yards last week to Miami. Even though this isn’t a classic game flow situation, Edelman is a factor even when the team is up big and trying to convert 3rd downs.

WR Brandon Marshall ($7,400) Very quietly Marshall is averaging 17.4 fantasy points a game with the Jets and gets to face a Eagles pass defense rated in the bottom half of the league. WR Eric Decker injured is knee Monday night and his availability for this game is very much in doubt. Marshall, who is the Jets most targeted receiver this season with 19, should see even more with Decker sitting out or hobbled. The game against the Eagles features one of the higher over/under on the slate and a pick ’em line, providing a positive game script for Marshall.

WR Donte Moncrief ($6,000) Moncrief has been targeted 19 times this season and leads the Colts in receptions yards and touchdowns. T.Y. Hilton has been hobbled with a knee injury and Andre Johnson is showing every one of his 34 years, leaving Moncrief as the only Colts receiver getting consistent separation from defenders. He faces a Titans defense which is ranked 26th against the pass and gave up two long scoring passes last week against the Browns.

TE Jordan Reed ($5,300) With Speedy receiver DeSean Jackson injured early in the first game of the season, Reed’s role in the offense has increased dramatically. He’s been targeted 17 times, hauling in 13 for 145 yards and a touchdown. He faces a Giants defense ranked 21st against the pass and 17th versus the tight end position. Washington heads into the game as 4 point underdogs, providing positive game flow potential for Reed. While injuries are always a concern, the match up and price are too enticing to resist.

Chandler Catanzaro ($4,700 FD) Catanzaro checks all my blocks for a kicker; high over/under, favored, playing in a dome, kicking at home. He’s also very affordable compared to several other kickers.

DEF Seattle ($5,300) Seattle’s defense is expensive, but there’s good reason for that. The Bears go into Seattle with backup QB Jimmy Clausen, who looked like he didn’t belong in the NFL last week, under center to face a Seahawks team desperate for a win. The Seahawks, who always play much better at home, are 14 point favorites and have a lot of potential for sacks and turn overs against Clausen and the Bears.
