NFL Week 2: Buy Low, Sell High

Alright fantasy football lovers, here’s my first GF2 buy low/sell high installment of this NFL season. After the first weekend I know all of your head’s are still spinning from the non-stop action, injuries and overall excitement/heartbreak from how your favorite team’s performed. From the Dez Bryant injury to Tyler Eifert coming out party (I called it people!) there were a ton of positive and negative events that came from our first weekend of football.

Within this article, I’ll give you three players to go out and grab today and three guys who you should trade as soon as possible. So here we go, take notes, everyone!

Buy Low

Calvin Johnson, WR Lions

Knowing he was injury free and primed for another huge year, I drafted Johnson with a major amount of confidence. He only managed to grab a measly two catches for 39 yards against the Chargers. After week one, I’m a little nervous, but I’ve been playing fantasy sports way too long to give up on Megatron just yet. Target any antsy Johnson owners and offer them a trade they can’t refuse. Get him at all costs, he’s too big of a target and one of Matthew Stafford’s go-to players.

Lamar Miller, RB Dolphins

Miller is another player who I am extremely confident in for the 2015 season. Versus the Redskins, he only managed to rush the ball 13 times for 53 yards and catch just one pass for 22 yards. These are good numbers in standard leagues, but I fully see him being an amazing PPR monster this year. He has a fairly decent matchup in Week 2 versus Jacksonville who gave up 105 total rushing yards on Sunday to the Panthers. Scoop him up in your leagues if possible and play him as a potential RB1 this season.

C.J. Anderson, RB Broncos

Many team owners spent a first round pick on Anderson this year with high hopes that’d he be the best at his position. He rushed just 12 times for 21 yards and caught four passes for 19 yards on Sunday. What is even more concerning is that Ronnie Hillman also rushed 12 times, but he ended up with 41 yards on the day. Another thing that may scare owners is his daunting matchup next week at Arrowhead Stadium versus the Chiefs. I would take advantage of this situation and pry him out of skittish owners sweaty palms.

Sell High

Bishop Sankey, RB Titans

Typically for fantasy football I hate all Tennessee Titans’ players, Sankey just so happens to be one of them. Sankey had an explosive Week 1 against Tampa Bay, but I’m still not sold on his reliability. On Sunday, he rushed just 12 times for 74 yards and a touchdown, he also caught 2 passes for 12 yards and a score. He does have a favorable matchup versus the Browns, who ranked 21st defending against running backs just a season ago. You may not be able to get an elite talent for Sankey, but if you can obtain someone such as Chris Ivory for him you’re winning in the long run.

Jordan Reed, TE Redskins

You’re going to thank me in a few weeks when Reed ends up on the injury report for what seems like the millionth time. The kid is a great talent, but he can never catch a break when it comes to the injury bug. It didn’t surprise me one bit on Sunday when he caught seven passes for 63 yards and a touchdown against Miami. I actually gave a friend advice to pick him up prior to the game, however, now I’ll tell him to sell high on Reed. The entire situation in Washington isn’t a pretty one for both fantasy and reality aspects of football, I don’t see it getting any better this season so steer clear of their players.

Keenan Allen, WR Chargers

Allen is so inconsistent at the receiver position that it drives me utterly insane. On Sunday against the Lions, Allen caught a career-high 15 balls for 166 yards. It truly was an amazing day, but it’s hard for me to envision him topping that type of output. There is a vast amount of talented receivers that I would rather have on my squad, Dolphins’ player Jarvis Landry is one of them. If possible, deal Keenan Allen and rid yourself of future headaches and sleepless nights of asking yourself why you even drafted him.
