Quarterback
Brian Hoyer $6,000 @ IND
John Fox hasn’t released his starter for week 5, but the overall consensus around the league is that Hoyer should get the nod come Sunday. Cutler looked terrible in the Monday Night loss to the Eagles and Hoyer has been a breath of fresh air in that offense since taking over the starting job. The Colts defense still looks like a high school team out there, as they are giving up 286 yards/game to opposing quarterbacks. A rule of thumb is to always look for value at the quarterback spot, so you can pay up elsewhere. At just $6,000, Hoyer(averaging 19.38 FD points/game) should have excellent value if given the starting job.
Running Backs
Terrence West $6,400 vs. WAS
With Justin Forsett out of the picture, it’s now West’s backfield in Baltimore. In his last game against Oakland, West rushed for 113 yards and a touchdown on just 21 carries. Through the first 4 weeks of 2016, the Redskins have given up the 3rd most yards on the ground and are giving up just shy of 5.0 yards/carry…which is not all that wonderful, to say the least. West isn’t much of a threat in the passing game, but if the Ravens get ahead early(which I think they will), look for West to see plenty of carries as they try to run out the clock.
Le’Veon Bell $8,600Â @ NYJ
Although the Jets are giving up just the 3rd fewest rush yards/game to opposing running backs, that doesn’t scare me in the slightest. Bell is basically Pittsburgh’s #2 WR out of the backfield and even lines up in the slot as well. He’s the most elusive back in the game and always a lock for around 18 FD points. Until his price crosses the $9,000 threshold he’ll be in my lineup, he’s still the safest back for cash games.
Wide ReceiversÂ
Amari Cooper $7,200 vs. SD
Many view Amari’s season as a disappointment so far, but his poor fantasy production can really just be attributed to the fact that he hasn’t gotten into the end zone yet this year. Cooper is still averaging just under 10 targets a game, which is just what you’re looking for in a cash game wideout. Oakland will be taking on a Jason Verrett-less Charger’s defense that is giving up 290 yards/game through the air. Derek Carr knows that Amari has yet to catch a TD, and I think he will make sure to change that fact before Sunday is over. I say Cooper goes for 130 and a TD this weekend at home for just $7,200.
A.J. Green $8,700 @ DAL
When the news of Tyler Eifert’s injury setback came out yesterday, I immediately ? A.J. Green into my cash line. Green has been dominating this year and it’s no surprise…Andy Dalton doesn’t have anyone to throw to besides the 6’4″ target in Green. The Cowboy’s secondary has been terrible for several years and it still holds true in 2016, as Brandon Carr is still the #1 corner on their depth chart. The game script doesn’t really matter in this one, Green will get his looks against a soft Dallas D.
Brandon Marshall $7,600Â vs. PIT
Which team is giving up the most passing yards a game so far in 2016? The shell of a defense in the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers have really struggled at defending through the air this year, as they’re getting torched for 316 yards/game in 2016. History has shown that Ryan Fitzpatrick is a much better QB at home than he is on the road, and I think the game script will have them throwing a ton in this one. Matt Forte can’t be depended upon to carry the ball 30 times/game, so look for the Jets to take advantage of Pitt’s terrible secondary come Sunday. (Don’t forget about the AB- Marshall Porsche bet as well #NarrativeScript)
Tight End
Zach Ertz $5,700Â @Â DET
The Lions have given up the most points to opposing tight ends in 2016, They have allowed huge days to Zach Miller, Jack Doyle(who?) and Delanie Walker. Zach Ertz is now back as the Eagles starting TE, and in his one game this season, he looked to be one of Carson Wentz’s favorite targets, as he was targeted 7 times in the win against Cleveland. It may be chalky, but at just $5,700, gotta love Ertz and company against Detroit.
Kicker
Stephen Gostowski $5,100 @ CLE
Just can’t envision a scenario in which Gostowski doesn’t come away with at least 9 points when Sunday is said and done. If you can remember pre-Y2K, Belichick used to be a member of the Brown’s coaching staff, and was basically run out of Cleveland with pitchforks. The Patriots will most likely run up the score in Brady’s return, which should lead to plenty of fantasy opportunities for Gostowski. Simple Plug and play here.
Defense
Minnesota Vikings $4,800 vs. HOU
The Texans spent a bunch of ? ? ? in the offseason bringing in some big name offensive weapons, but Houston still ranks 3rd from the bottom in points/game on the season(17.2 ppg) Mike Zimmer is a defensive mastermind and his schemes are turning this Vikings defense into the most feared in football. Brock Osweiler has already thrown 6 interceptions on the season, against some pretty lackluster defenses, I say the Vikes have a pick six in them and at least 4 sacks on Sunday.
