One Love and One Hate From Every Team In The NFC East

What’s up GF2 family, @JerryWilkeFM is back with part 2 of 8 of my Love/Hate series. Keep in mind, I don’t necessarily hate the players themselves, I’d just prefer other options at those ADPs. If you missed the first part (AFC East) you can click here and give it a read: https://goingfor2.com/one-love-and-one-hate-from-every-team-in-the-afc-east-fantasy-football/

Love: Ezekiel Elliott, 3.02, RB15

The Tony Pollard hype is real. The fact that Zeke had a “down year” but still finished as a top 10 RB speaks volumes. It’s not like his TD numbers were inflated either. He’s always going to be a threat out of the backfield but even if the Cowboys want to give Pollard a few more touches, Zeke can still do damage on the back of 215ish carries (and that’s lowballing it).

His ADP is a perfect spot to approach your draft with any strategy. RB heavy, he’s a perfect RB3. RB/WR in the first 2 rounds, he gives you RB1 potential in your RB2 slot. Zero RB, yeah I’ll take Zeke as my RB1 to pair with 2 stud WRs. Any of those combinations would work and start your draft off successfully.

Hate:  Dalton Schultz, 7.12, TE9

This was probably the hardest “hate” so far, and I do not hate this pick. I just had to choose someone. Dalton Schultz has a nice opportunity to start off the season hot with Michael Gallup coming back from an ACL injury. When the entire offense is healthy, that’s when we may see a drop in Schultz’s production. Gallup was paid to be the WR2, Jalen Tolbert was drafted in the 3rd round of this past draft, Zeke and Pollard can both catch out of the backfield, and of course, CeeDee Lamb is the team’s new WR1. I like Schultz but I’m still targeting later TEs so that’s why he makes the list.

Eagles

Love: DeVonta Smith, 6.07, WR27

You’ll notice in my “Hate” portion of the Eagles that I point out the QBs deficiencies but if I’m choosing a receiving option from this offense I’d rather take the guy that’s 3 rounds later and has some sort of chemistry with his QB. At the very least I could see AJ Brown opening up Smith even more and seeing a very size-able increase in Smith’s production. 64 receptions on 104 targets is nothing to scoff at, especially for a rookie, but I can easily see those numbers jump up quite a bit. By the mid-6th round, you’re looking at Smith as your potential WR3.

Hate: AJ Brown, 3.03, WR10

Make no mistake about it, AJ Brown is a monster of a man and a great wide receiver. With so much top-notch WR talent switching teams this year it’s hard to pick and choose which ones will have immediate success. So I’m going with the guy catching footballs from a guy who threw only 16 TDs and 3144 yards last year.

I don’t think he will struggle all year but it’s a bit of a risk to take him in the early 3rd round as your potential WR1. Especially on a team that lead the entire league in rushing last year. I’m definitely lower on him than most and talent will always find a way to prevail over situation but I’ll let someone else make that pick.

Commanders

Love: Carson Wentz, UDFA, QB26+

A QB outside the top-ranked 24 probably shouldn’t even be on this list when we’re talking about single QB leagues but here’s Carson Wentz. I’m ready to get burned for this statement, Carson Wentz is not a bad QB. Sure he only averaged a little over 205 yards a game last year but the team also had the number 1 running back in the league. He still had a 27:7 TD to INT ratio and I believe he’s walking into a situation with better weapons.

Terry McLaurin equals Michael Pittman, fresh new rookie Jahan Dotson was a 1st round pick, Logan Thomas is a threat in the receiving game and we already know that both RBs can catch. The Commanders do open up with a pair of very favorable defenses so not only will we get an idea of what Wentz will look like if you’re a QB streamer you can take Wentz in the last round and not worry about QB until waivers week 3. Throughout the season he has various favorable matchups so stashing him or grabbing him on waivers a week early might not be a bad idea.

Hate: Antonio Gibson, 3.07, RB16

Not only is the Brian Robinson hype scaring me off a little bit, but the fact that pass-catching specialist, JD McKissic, chose to come back on the same deal that was offered by Buffalo (a superior team) speaks volume to how this RB room will be used. It’s no secret that Gibson has finished as a low-end RB1 in both of his professional seasons but Ron Rivera has been trying to find that Jonathan Stewart/DeAngelo Williams (mixed in with a little Mike Tolbert) combination since he arrived in Washington.

It also doesn’t help that Gibson has been a little hobbled with multiple injuries throughout both of his seasons. I’m not opposed to drafting Gibson I just prefer it to be a round or two later. Let me use him as a flex instead of an RB2.

Giants

Love: Kenny Golladay, 14.07, WR66

I wasn’t very excited about this one at all, for my love or my hate. At the very least, Kenny Golladay is the “listed” WR1 on this team and ideally should be better than his inaugural season in the Big Apple where I scored the same amount of touchdowns as he did. The biggest reason I chose Kenny over anyone else is that you’re practically getting him for nothing.

As the draft dwindles down and you’re staring at a kicker, defense, or filling some skill position depth, Golladay isn’t a bad flier at all. The new head coach, Brian Daboll, played a big role in Josh Allen taking a huge step in his career and now the fantasy world hopes that the same magic can happen with Daniel Jones. For the amount of money, Golladay is making he should be involved more in the receiving game.

Hate: Kadarius Toney, 10.12, WR49

I was never really a fan of Toney. I don’t believe this offense has enough to support multiple WRs plus Barkley. Toney had a couple of solid games last year when he was on the field but the off-season rumors (and that’s probably all they were) coupled with the drafting of a similar player in Wan’Dale Robinson has turned me off even more.

He’s definitely a talented WR and you really can’t go wrong picking him in the double-digit rounds where he’s going. As a whole, this entire division was one of the toughest ones. There’s either a ton of value or the ADPs are right where they should be. There’s really no reason outside of injury that Toney shouldn’t be the number 2 option on this team.

Hopefully, the next division is a little easier.
