The 10 Best Rookies for Fantasy in Week 5

A big name has fallen out of the power rankings, but the top players remain at the top. Here’s where the rookies stack up against each other, heading into Week 5.

1.) Ja’Marr Chase (Previous Rank: 1)

I don’t know what more to say about Ja’Marr Chase at the top of this list. Again, he’s the real deal. Through four games, Chase has recorded a line of 17/297/4. So again, my only advice with Chase: set him & forget him.

Advice: START

2.) Najee Harris (Previous Rank: 2)

Najee Harris recorded two career-bests in week 4 against the Packers: 62 rush yards and 4.13 yards per attempt. Harris stays highly involved in this Steelers’ offense, so he should continue to be highly involved in your lineups.

Advice: START

3.) DeVonta Smith (Previous Rank: 3)

In last week’s rankings, we wrote, “(DeVonta Smith) is a rumbling volcano that could explode any week.” Well, Week 3 was that week. Smith finished with seven catches for 122 yards. He also had a touchdown that was called back because he allegedly stepped out of bounds on his own. His fantasy managers would disagree with that call. Smith is the WR1 in Philly and is getting WR1 treatment.

Advice: START

4.) Jaylen Waddle (Previous Rank: 4)

The top four rookies remain the same, and many should not be surprised. Jaylen Waddle could easily be in the top 3 here with his incredible start. Unfortunately, his quarterback is Jacoby Brissett, and Waddle’s upside remains limited. He’ll look to continue being a PPR machine in Week 5 against Tampa.

Advice: START

5.) Mac Jones (Previous Rank: Unranked)

Advice: SF Start

6.) Zach Wilson (Previous Rank: Unranked)

Advice: SF Start

After having all-rookie QBs on the bubble last week, we bring back two because of their Week 4 play and their Week 5 matchups. Both Mac Jones and Zach Wilson enjoyed efficient play while recording two touchdowns each. Wilson now gets the Falcons while Jones gets the Texans.

7.) Trey Sermon/Elijah Mitchell (Previous Rank: 8)

We’ll need to follow the injury reports very closely this week out of San Francisco. Elijah Mitchell and Jimmy Garoppolo may not be able to go in Week 5. If both are out, Trey Sermon could have himself a fun day. Sermon had a strong outing against the Seahawks (19/89), and he could be leaned on against the Cardinals after Arizona shut down Matt Stafford.

Advice: START

8.) Javonte Williams (Previous Rank: 5)

We tried to warn you to sit Javonte Williams last week against the Ravens. Hope you listened! This week, it’s another tough situation for Williams. Denver may have to start Drew Lock, so you can expect Pittsburgh to stop the run and force Lock to beat them. It’s going to be hard to

Advice: SIT

9.) Chuba Hubbard (Previous Rank: 6)

Chuba Hubbard finds himself in an interesting matchup in Week 5. While he couldn’t get much done against Dallas, Hubbard and the Panthers now face off against the Eagles. He could get going on the ground and sprinkle in some catches in what is expected to be yet another offensive shootout for the Eagles.

10.) Kadarius Toney (Previous Rank: 10)

We’re going to keep Kadarius Toney in the Top 10 because he proved in Week 4 he deserves to be invited to the party. Toney made a splash against a tough Saints defense by hauling in six catches for 78 yards. If Sterling Shepard is out again in Week 5, Toney is a go against the Cowboys.

**On the Bubble**

Rondale Moore (Previous Rank:7)

There are just so many mouths to feed in Arizona. Rondale Moore will continue to be a boom or bust option in this high-powered offense.

Kyle Pitts (Previous Rank: 9)

The Falcons offense needs to figure itself out before we can start anyone not named Calvin Ridley or… Cordarrelle Patterson.
