The 10 Best Rookies for Fantasy in Week 7

This rookie class is starting to shine bright. Not only are some ‘must starts,’ they’re becoming household names. Here’s where the rookies stack up against each other, heading into Week 7.

1.) Ja’Marr Chase (Previous Rank: 1)

Here’s one way to put Ja’Marr Chase’s rookie season into perspective: Chase now has 553 receiving yards through his first six games; that’s the second-most by any rookie in the Super Bowl era. Thanks to Field Yates at ESPN for pointing that out for us, and thanks to Chase for being so much fun to watch.

2.) Najee Harris (Previous Rank: 2)

Najee Harris didn’t have a great night on the ground against the Seahawks, but there’s no question he is a focal point of this Steelers’ offense. Harris’ finished with 127 total yards in a thriller of a Sunday Night showdown. The hard-working rookie now gets to rest with Pittsburgh on a bye-week.

3.) Kyle Pitts (Previous Rank: 4)

Let’s go back a week in London and remember the ‘Kyle Pitts Breakout.’ WOW. Pitts’ Party was even more fun than we imagined. The up-and-coming tight end reeled in nine catches for 119 yards and his first career touchdown. This is precisely the type of performance Pitts managers needed. Now, we can fire him up with confidence moving forward.

4.) Jaylen Waddle (Previous Rank: 5)

Jaylen Waddle managers can breathe a sigh of relief that Tua is back, and his connection with Waddle is as good as ever. Waddle had a great day in London, catching ten passes and two touchdowns. Waddle is a locked-in WR3 for Week 7 against the Falcons.

5.) DeVonta Smith (Previous Rank: 3)

It was a tough Week 6 for DeVonta Smith managers. The Eagles’ WR1 was held to just two catches for 31 yards. However, there is hope on the horizon for better days. Philly has Las Vegas and Detroit coming up next, which are good opportunities to ‘get right.’ Smith still leads the team in targets, receptions, and yards.

6.) Chubba Hubbard (Previous Rank: Unranked)

Panthers head coach Matt Rhule said something all Chubba Hubbard managers need to hear. On Monday, Rhule said, “We ran the ball well; we just have not been committed enough to running it. And that’s going to change, I can tell you right now.” His comments may or may not be ‘coach speak,’ but either way, fire up Hubbard in your lineups while CMC is out.

7.) Elijah Mitchell (Previous Rank: 7)

Finally, we have a little more clarity on the 49ers backfield. In week 5, Elijah Mitchell and Trey Sermon were healthy and on the active roster for the first time this season, and Mitchell got most of the attention. Sermon recorded just one carry on the day, compared to Mitchell’s nine carries. Mitchell appears to be the one to manage in this backfield… for now. It’s still Kyle Shanahan. But it’s Week 7, and I know our options are slim.

8.) Mac Jones (Previous Rank: On the Bubble)

Mac Jones was one late-game mistake away from getting his first home win as a Patriot. While his performance was, for the most part, overshadowed by that pick-six, he showed growth once again. Jones had career-highs in passer rating (118.9) and yards per attempt (10.90). New England has the Jets for Week 7, so Mac has another good shot at capturing that first home win at Gillette.

9.) Rondale Moore (Previous Rank: 10)

The roller coaster that is the Arizona offense continues. Besides Kyler Murray, it’s hard to get a read on any fantasy consistency with this offense. Unfortunately for fantasy owners, this strategy is working for the Cardinals because they’re undefeated. Rondale Moore had minimal impact in Week 6 as he recorded his highest snap percentage of the season (56%). Moore will look to make mo(o)re of an impact in Week 7 against Houston.

10.) Amon-Ra St. Brown (Previous Rank:9)

There are multiple reasons to believe the Lions will be down quickly and by a lot in Week 7 against the Rams. So, look for St. Brown to pile up the targets in garbage time.

** On the Bubble **

Kadarius Toney (Previous Rank: 6)

Kadarius Toney may be missing Week 7 with a bum ankle, so let’s keep monitoring his status closely. His uncertainty for Sunday is the only reason he’s ‘on the bubble.’
