The Best DFS NFL Preseason Advice Week 2 (Friday 8/11/23)

Real football is back! Okay, not really, but it’s better than nothing. I’m writing this on Thursday night, and by the time the games kick off, I’ll be beachside and unable to check Twitter. I usually pay close attention to Twitter leading up to the games to ensure the guys I like are actually going to play. But, I will leave my NFL Beat Writer Twitter List HERE. If you follow that link, it will filter out all the other stuff on Twitter and show you just NFL Beat reporters, which is invaluable in NFL DFS.

Without having that information, however, here are some of the guys I like for Friday…

Quarterback

Clayton Tune (ARI) vs. DEN

Clayton Tune has been rumored to be a potential Week 1 starter as a 5th-round rookie. Colt McCoy probably gives the Cardinals a better shot at winning games, but I don’t think winning games is what the Cardinals want to do. With that said, we already know what Colt McCoy is, which should leave more time for Tune to show if he is a capable starter in the NFL.

Mike White/Skylar Thompson (MIA) vs. ATL

There aren’t too many sure things in preseason NFL, but there is one thing that I’m 99.9 percent sure of…Tua is NOT playing in this game. Assuming he doesn’t play, White and Thompson are currently the only other QBs on the roster, meaning they will probably split the snaps 5050.

Ben DiNucci (DEN) @ ARI

Shout out to my boy Ben DiNucci who won me a lot of money in XFL DFS earlier this season. The fact he played actual football just a few short months ago likely gives him a slight advantage over some of these other guys. If he plays like he did in the XFL, he will come out slinging the ball over the field.

Running Back

Chase Brown (CIN) vs. GB

Chase Brown is looking to fill the No. 2 spot behind Joe Mixon and an injury to Trayveon Williams may have made his chances a little better. The word in camp is that Brown has looked good.

Eric Gray (NYG) @ DET

Another rookie, which will be a common theme throughout this article. I’m going to guess that both Saquon Barkley and Matt Breida will get the veteran treatment and not play much. James Robinson was cut by the Patriots and the Giants picked up as no more than a camp body, Gary Brightwell has been with the Giants for a while and they likely know what he is already, which leaves Gray and Jashaun Corbin as the only guys with something to prove. Admittedly, I have no idea who Corbin is and if he is still on the team.

Demetric Felton (CLE) vs. WAS

With Jerome Ford likely to miss this game and Nick Chubb likely to not suit up, Felton and John Kelly will split the majority of the snaps. I think both RBs will be viable plays, but Felton will catch more passes, so I will take him over Kelly.

Wide Receiver

Jalin Hyatt (NYG) @ DET

I’ll just leave these here…

Cedric Tillman (CLE) vs. WAS

Tillman had a nice catch in the Hall of Fame Game last week, and he continues to make plays like this in camp…

Michael Wilson (ARI) vs. DEN

Wilson makes for a good stack option if you play Clayton Tune (or Colt McCoy). With his height, he becomes the best red zone option on a team with a ton of smaller WRs. And then there is this…

Tight End

Luke Musgrave (GB) @ CIN

Injuries to Tucker Kraft and Josiah Deguara leave the Packers’ TE room a little shallow Rookie Musgrave is expected to be the starter this season, but I think they want to give him a decent amount of snaps to get him ready for the speed of the game. Tight end is always a crap shoot, but a shallow TE room means the other guys on the roster will be forced to play more snaps and that’s all we can hope for in preseason.

Darnell Washington (PIT) @ TB

6-foot-7, 265 pounds, winning blocks against TJ Watt, and doing this to linebackers…

Defense

Detroit Lions vs. NYG

My only requirement for defense is to take the home team, and of the home teams, I think the Lions will face the worst assortment of quarterbacks with Daniel Jones likely not playing and Tyrod Taylor more than likely not playing much as an NFL veteran. That leaves Tommy DeVito to get a good portion of the snaps. Who? Exactly my point.
