The Best NFL DraftKings Cash Picks for Week 1 (9/12/21)

FOOTBALL is back baby! I (Jared Good @TheYetiExpress) will be bringing cash game plays weekly throughout the NFL season, and they can be found here weekly at goingfor2.com. They will be released early Friday morning!

Quarterback

Kyler Murray ($7,600)

This might surprise some people considering he is the 2nd highest in salary at the Quarterback position, however, I feel like he has the safest floor in this match-up. There are many different ways you can go at Quarterback whether it be Josh Allen or Jalen Hurts, both of which I think are fine, but I’m more confident that this game shoots out than the other two. Kyler Murray’s running backs are still below league average and he loves to run near the goal line and did with great success last season. The Titans gave up 277.4 yards per game through the air last season, and that is very important on Draftkings with the 3 point bonus for your Quarterback throwing 300+ yards.

Running Backs

James Robinson ($6,400)

James Robinson will be a staple in my lineups in both tournaments and in cash as well. The road is very clear for James Robinson now that Travis Etienne is now done for the year. James Robinson has a very good chance to eclipse 100 yards rushing in this game which will net you 3 bonus points on Draftkings. I don’t love the $6,400 price tag which may be enough to keep his ownership down a bit, but he has a pretty safe floor of around 15 DK points and basically unlimited upside now that his targets become safe. He also caught 3-4 balls out of the backfield last season weekly.

Antonio Gibson ($5,900)

Antonio Gibson is simply too cheap in my opinion, he should be closer to $7,000. The Match-up vs The Chargers isn’t great but this is a volume play. I expect Gibson to touch the ball at least 20 times in this game, and it’s not very often you can say that about a $5,900 Running Back.

Wide Receivers

DeAndre Hopkins ($7,800)

Hopkins is Mr.Consistent! Hopkins continues to get 10+ targets per game in this offense with Kyler Murray. I always love to connect my QB/WR even in cash games. The Titans are bad against the Wide Receiver position ranking 28th. I love the Murray/Hopkins connection Week 1 and I think it is the safest one on the board.

A.J. Brown ($7,100)

I like the shootout potential this game brings more than any other game on the slate. With the addition of Julio Jones, I think some people will forget about A.J. Brown here, and I think the addition of Julio actually helps him more than it hurts him. For legal purposes, I cannot list a full lineup that will leave out two Wide Receivers. I’ll just say this think cheap and correlate your lineups. Neither of my two picks is Marquez Callaway, who I think will be heavily over-owned in my opinion, yes the price is nice on Callaway, but Jaire Alexander is an absolute shut down corner.

Tight-End

Kyle Pitts ($4,400)

Kyle Pitts will hit my ownership cap in tournaments I can promise you that! I love Kyle Pitts Week 1. Kyle Pitts in College had 0 drops and had a touchdown on 13% of his catches, this guy is insane. Not only is Kyle Pitts extremely underpriced in Week 1, but Atlanta needs to fill the 157 target void after losing Julio Jones. Kyle Pitts will line up as a Wide Receiver as well.

Defense

Defense is always my toughest pick to select. If you’re like me and need some defense help tune into The Armchair Fantasy Show on the Going for 2 Network Fridays at 10:30EST, Tim is a defensive wizard. Here is why I like the Patriots, I don’t like Tua and he will without the new acquisition Will Fuller. Myles Gaskin has struggled as a pass blocker in his career and I think the game stays low scoring.
