Boston Bruins V New Jersey Devils

The Devils are currently riding a 3 game winning streak and will face a very competitive Boston Bruins team. This game will be a test for the Devils as Boston’s goaltending is not that horrible, to say the least. New Jersey is 4-1-1 in their division and will do anything in their power to maintain their divisional lead. The Bruins, on the other hand, are 4-4 in division play, fighting to maintain their current position early in the season. For the New Jersey Devils, they are 7th in the NHL for penalty minutes a game with a little over 10, this puts Boston’s power-play unit in a great spot, actually a SMASH spot as they will be in the power play for probably around 9 minutes of play. This will leave the Devils very vulnerable against a power-play unit NOONE wants to face. Boston is averaging 34 shots on the goal this season a game, which is an incredible number and scoring 2.7 goals average as well. Boston is averaging a good amount of penalties, but that should not affect them in a negative way.

Pittsburgh Penguins V Ottawa Senators

Ottawa is currently on a devastating downward spiral facing a 6 game losing streak heading into this one. Looking at the last ten games, the numbers are enough to make you want to fade the whole team, and for good reason. A majority of the team is currently out with Covid-19, making them a weaker team than they were before. The Penguins are just as unlucky, though, missing Sydney Crosby and Brian Dumoulin, two of their best skaters. The only good news about this matchup, both goalies are AWFUL. Casey DeSmith and Anton Forsberg are both averaging over 4.4 against them a game, opening up a chance for either team to break out. Be wary about how much exposure you have to this game.

Montreal Canadiens V Detroit Redwings

Raymond and company will host the Canadiens today in Detroit. Both of these teams are slowly heating up, and are starting to look dangerous as they are firing on all cylinders. Both goalies who are expected to start have respectable save rates over .900 average this season, but will be under fire in this one, I can see each one get the 35 shot saved bonus on DK to be completely honest. Detroit has a 75% penalty kill rate, which kind of sways me away from the Montreal power-play units, but here even-strength lines are good enough alone. Given the stats, the Redwings have the ultimate advantage here. Their power-play unit is turning into one of the best in the NHL, and are in a great spot here.

Los Angeles Kings V Winnepeg Jets

The kings are currently on a 3 game road winning streak. Today that is in grave danger, as the Jets have been extremely good, especially at home. The Jets are currently 7-2-3 in conference play, which ranks them 9th so far. They are also averaging 3.2 goals off 30.8 shots on goal this season. The kings, on the other hand, hold a 2-5-1 in conference play. The Kings will be aiming to slow down Kyle Connor, who scored a team-high 3 points the last time these two met. There is a lot of talent between these two, and Winnepeg goalies have been leaky, putting the Kings in a really good spot, believe it or not. The Jets will be without Paul Statsny, though, but that should not have an effect on the overall performance of the team. I predict this to be a high-scoring event, with the Kings coming up just short and bringing their streak to a screeching halt.

Toronto Maple Leafs V Buffalo Sabres

This matchup should be very one-sided. The Leafs are just rolling right now while the Sabres seem to be still trying to get organized. Statistics show that the Sabres are scoring just .4 more points a game than the Maple Leafs, other than that, the Leafs outplay them in every other category. Tage Thompson for the Sabres has really grown to be the leader this team needs right now, and I hope to see them get on the right track, but I do not think that this is that game. He is currently second on the team with 4 goals, behind Victor Oloffson, who is currently dealing with an undisclosed injury. The same can be said with the Leafs as John Tavares is still dealing with an injury of his own, but that does not really affect a team that is riddled with talent. This is to include Austin Matthews who is finally coming out of his slump with 5 goals and 5 assists and is the obvious leader of this team. The Maple Leafs should have fun in this one and find the back of the net with ease, I am not saying it is going to be a shutout, but the Leafs will cover the spread on this one.

Florida Panthers V Tampa Bay Lightning

Florida has been on a downward spiral on the road this season to the tune of 4 straight losses on the road. They will be looking ahead to this matchup to end that streak and hopefully start a streak in the right direction. Problem is, Tampa Bay is the leader in the Eastern conference, all thanks to their high-powered offense who had a very slow start to their season but have since picked it up. Luckily for the Panthers, though, they are 3-0-1 in conference play, which bodes well for them. Despite Florida’s bad fortune, they are still second in the NHL when it comes to assists. This means they attack the net something fierce every game. This one is a hard one to judge, but in the last ten games, on paper, Floriday is in fact the better, well-rounded team. That does not mean sleep on Tampa bay, and you want exposure to them on a slate as big as this. This will be a high-scoring game, with Tampa Bay walking away with a win at home, expect this one to go over the projected game total.

New York Rangers V Columbus Blue Jackets

This game has me excited as two very good goalies with a .930 save rate go head to head against two very good offenses. This game should be one of the higher owned games on the slate and for good reason. Offensively though, the Blue Jackets have a slight edge as they seem more rounded as a team. They are scoring .60 more goals a game backed with 4.2 more shots on goal than the Rangers, meaning Igor Shesterkin will have his hands full and will need to rely heavily on his defensive skaters to slow them down. The Rangers are no slouch either, as their top 2 lines have been simply playing in dominating fashion. I thought losing Patrick Laine would affect Columbus, but it really just made them better, they have no problem finding the back of the net and using all their equal strength they have available. This one is going to be a shootout, but Columbus should come out on top here and advance to 8-3-0. This is one matchup you do not want to miss out on getting a piece of, even if the ownership is high for some. I am not worried about how good both defenses are. This is going to be another high-scoring event, with the Blue Jackets continuing there 3 game winning streak.

St Louis Blues V Carolina Hurricanes

This one is short and sweet, Hurricanes by 3. This, to me, is the best offense in hockey right now and I do not see them slowing down against a goalie who started the season hot, but seems to be having his normal fall off, who is barely at a .900 save rate right now. He is allowing just 2.5 goals a game, but they are at the wrong time and costing the Blues an undefeated record. Carolinas projected goalie, Annti Raanta, is not very good, but this Hurricanes team is just too good and does all the dirty work for him. This is why they hold a 10-1 record, which is number one in the NHL. Both teams are sitting in the top 10 in every offense stat, but the Blues will not be able to keep up with this rolling Hurricanes team led by Andrei Svechikov.

Arizona Coyotes V Nashville Predators

This is a game I want very little exposure to. Both projected goalies are god awful and their records show that. Home or away they just can’t seem to get something going. It is becoming clear why the Coyotes will not have an arena next season. They allow over 4 goals a game with only a 63% penalty kill. Because of that stat, if entering multiple lineups, I would want SOME exposure to Nashville. Betting-wise, Nashville will crush the spread with ease and send Arizona packing with their heads down. It should be a low-scoring event overall, and one that I hope is not televised.

Philadelphia Flyers V Dallas Stars

The Flyers have just looked bad lately, and I am not sure what is happening, but they are crumbling. They are struggling to score, and barely getting by when they win. This could be the bounce-back game they need, but, historically, The Stars dominate the Flyers from a fantasy standpoint with their First line averaging 35.76 fantasy points as a unit, which is ridiculously great and something that I am interested in. Martin Jones is predicted to be in the net for the Flyers, though, and he is sneaky good. He is undefeated this year and has a save rate of .950 and allows less than 2 goals a game. This could spell trouble for Dallas as they only shoot an average of 20 times a game. They will need the Flyers defense to be off their game and will have to work as a complete unit to get it done, which they have shown they can do. The Flyers will give Dallas plenty of power-play chances where they average 54 fps a meeting between these two with their power play 1 unit. Philly has not been looking good as a all-around team, and I only really like a couple of players from this one, especially with the slate being so big it would not hurt to fade the whole team.

San Jose Sharks V Colorodo Avalanche

This game is a conference showdown that can have playoff implications later on in the season. The Avs are currently 4-2 whereas the Sharks are 3-3, meaning this game is for the position. With Mackinnon gone JT Compher has taken the role in the first line to skate with Gabriel Landeskog, which is not a bad thing as Compher already has 10 points this season to pair with Landeskogs 11 season points. On the other side of the nice, Logan Couture leads the charge with 5 goals over the past ten games. Sharks are a tad weak right now due to Timo Meier still being out, making it harder for them to score, but with Kuemper in the net for the Avs, this should not be an issue as he allows almost 3 goals a game against Reimers 1.8. The Sharks should have their way with the Avs and walk away with the win, covering the spread along the way. San Jose’s defense scheme is actually really good, and they will slow down the Avs in a big way while facing 25+ shots on goal. The Avs top line though will still give them a run and get a few to the back of the net to keep it close. An interesting fact that people ignore is the fact that the Sharks may have a bad record, but have only allowed 2.62 goals a game this season, compare that to the Avs’ 3.36, it may be one-sided.

Minnesota Wild V Seattle Kraken

FINALLY, the Wild gets a good matchup against a struggling goalie duo. In every category possible the Wild dominate the Kraken by a landslide. Seattle can score goals, don’t get me wrong, just not enough to grab that win. The Wild shoot the puck a ton and I do not see that changing in this one as the Kraken only have one defense skater worth a damn and that’s Giordano. This is a team who has always been in sync with one another and pass the puck around, making goal scorers really spread out but still goes to the same core! I do want a piece of the Kraken tonight, though as Eberle and Shwartz are really talented and are not new to the way the NHL is played. This could end up being a high-scoring matchup as a Wild goalie can never be trusted even in the easiest of matchups.

Vancouver Canucks V Vegas Golden Knights

One word…Marchessault! Dude has been borderline unstoppable the past five games with a few goals and a handful of assists. He is guaranteed a goal and at least one assist in this one as well as Demko is allowing 3 goals a game right now and just looks uncomfortable. Luckily for Vegas, on top of the great matchup, their goalie Lehner is out of his slump and back to form. The problem with the Canucks is that only a few skaters are actually relevant with JT miller leading the charge with 6 goals and 10 assists. They will try to disrupt Lehner in this one and get one MAYBE two in the back of the net, other than that, this one is one-sided. Vegas lost a key piece of their offense in Max Pacioretty and William Karlsson and everyone counted them out. Well, guess what, they are not going anywhere. There adjusted line one has been on fire the past five games and is just getting better the more they skate together. Vegas wins this one by 3 and covers the spread while lighting up Demko and sending him crying back to the bus.
