The Best Week 1 NFL DFS Stacks (9/11/2022)

Welcome to DFS Stacks with Jerry Wilke. Each week I will list three to four of my favorite stacks for the main slate during the NFL season. All of the pricing is based on Draft Kings but could cross correlate to FanDuel or any of your other favorite DFS platforms. Not all stacks will be just a QB to WR combo. Stacks come in many different types and sizes. Hopefully you enjoy these stacks and may they bring you tons of success and money in your DFS contests.

Stack 1 – Welcome to the Squad

Kyler Murray ($7200) and Hollywood Brown ($6200), bring it back with Juju Smith-Schuster ($5200) OR Marquez Valdes-Scantling ($4700) – Kansas City Chiefs at Arizona Cardinals, 4:25pm EST

According to DraftKings SportsBook, this is the highest Over/Under game on the week. Having any kind of exposure to this game is going to bring wonders to your lineup. First we start out with Kyler Murray who offers top 5 QB upside with his rushing ability and we pair him with a newly acquired weapon that he has previous chemistry with. On the Chiefs side I like MVS more in bigger tournaments because of his boom or bust potential. Juju would be the “safer” play as I think he’ll get more targets and be more consistent. Either way, you’re grabbing a Patrick Mahomes target in a game that should feature a ton of points.

Stack 2 – El Cheapo Stacko

Jameis Winston ($5300) and Jarvis Landry ($5000) – New Orleans Saints at Atlanta Falcons, 1:00pm EST

I really like this stack a lot, it’s simple yet could be effective. If Atlanta has a strength at all on their defense, it’s cornerback, but AJ Terrell can only cover 1 player at a time. My thought behind this is Michael Thomas might be that player, if not him then 1st round rookie Chris Olave might get the attention. The bottom line is Jarvis Landry should have the “easiest” time of the three. Jameis and Jarvis have shown some chemistry flashes in training camp as well so let’s hope Winston comes out slinging.

Stack 3 – Try and Keep Up

Colts DST ($3900) and Jonathan Taylor ($9100), bring it back with Brandin Cooks ($6300) and Davis Mills ($5300) – Indianapolis Colts at Houston Texans, 1:00pm EST

This stack fills two of your onesie positions (QB and DST), gives you the highest cost RB on the slate and still allows you to have about $5000 to spend per position on the other positions. The Colts DST and Jonathan Taylor are probably going to be chalky this week but using Mills and Cooks instead of a chalk QB/WR duo allows for some lineup diversity and contest winning upside. I plan on using each of these stacks in different lineups but this is the one that I’ve been really building around.

Stack 4 – The Lion’s Den

Jared Goff ($5400) and Amon-Ra St. Brown ($6100) – Philadelphia Eagles at Detroit Lions, 1:00pm EST

I’ve fallen into the Hard Knocks trap. This stack is fairly inexpensive and it features 2021’s second half breakout. Philadelphia is expected to have a really solid defense this year so that’s even more reason on why I like this stack, it should be low owned. Jared Goff definitely isn’t the sexiest pick, especially in week 1, but with QBs like Josh Allen, Matt Stafford, Dak Prescott, Tom Brady and Russell Wilson not on this main slate (primetime games), you can really focus elsewhere on your lineup while using a stack that worked multiple times last year.
