The Game Plan For Week 9 (#FantasyFootball)

Fine readers of the Going For 2 fanbase my name is @TheBLeagueSays and I will give you 100% more this week than Keke Coutee did for you last week. In this week‘s ‘Game Plan For The Week’, I will give to you some plays to make in regards to your Fantasy teams’ weekly roster construction, DFS selections or Dynasty evaluations.

So before we get started, Thank you, and enjoy!

Slant Route

Who is trending up this week?

The Pittsburgh Steelers had a decent second-half performance against Miami on Monday night, whether that be because Mason Rudolph looked hesitant in his return from that horrific concussion or just finding that chemistry again after utilizing Devlin Hodges whilst Rudolph was away (whatever it may be) they were looking a little rusty. With that said, Pittsburgh gets the Colts and Rams visiting the Steel City in back-to-back weeks which is followed by a ‘soft’ schedule of the Browns twice, the Bengals, and the Cardinals which could see them hit optimistically a 7-7 record before their last run at the playoffs.

It would be remiss of me to not say ‘go get Jaylen Samuels’, as James Conner took another injury, this time to his shoulder. Jaylen Samuels sits as our RB56 before the season had started in our Dynasty rankings and seems to shine when he gets the chance. Should he get more work going forward I would expect that to climb quickly.

Flat Route

The bubble has burst on:

Everyone, yay! It’s time to write them all off!

The Jets and Falcons have joined the damned in the Bengals, Redskins, and Dolphins as their seasons are dead and buried. And there are a few more to join them sooner than later if things break left instead of right this weekend.

Cleveland, the New York Giants,  Denver, and Tampa are all sitting on a glamorous two wins each and dare I say it, but are all one more loss away from putting Expedia’s servers to the test come Monday morning. Here is why it is important (in my opinion…which it should be, it is my article) because as it pertains to fantasy football, these guys could be sat to rest or sent to get any niggling injuries cleaned up and ready for next year. Sounds crazy, but am I wrong?

Here’s a scenario; if Cleveland gets on a roll over the next week or two I can’t see Kareem Hunt (yeah, his suspension is nearly up) factoring in that much – he will, but not enough to disrupt Chubb’s workload. But if they can’t make the playoffs? I’m giving my investment and stud running back Nick Chubb a rest to avoid potential injury and let Hunt go and toe the company line, let him get some stats up and then ship him off in the offseason.

Now is the time to check those depth charts, and send some feelers out to your league mates who may have a backup of yours on their bench to cover yourself should your stud get phased out before the fantasy playoffs start.

Comeback Route

Who will recover after a poor performance in the previous week:

Oakland had a tough loss on the road to Houston last week and was smashed by Green Bay the week prior, but sitting at 3-4 seems like an achievement for a team that everyone thought was tanking for the next 5 years. Detroit has on the road in three games this year given up 25 points per game and I feel like Oakland which bodes well for #raidernation too.

However as much as I like the dancing partner in this matchup with Detroit, it is at home where the Raiders have struggled putting up points the most. I’m cautious of Derek Carr in this one because Detroit brings the reckless out of everyone and quarterbacks just want to sling it against them, and he has only put up multiple touchdowns on the road this year and not yet at home.

That to me screams a Josh Jacobs game, who is $6500 on Draft Kings this week. The Lions have offered the third-most points per game (25 ppg) to the Running Back, with a generous 4 receiving touchdowns and 8 rushing touchdowns too since Week 1. The work will be there for him whether they take the lead or are chasing.

Plug him in and feel good about it!

Screen Route

The contrarian play of the week:

Kansas at home to Minnesota, oddly enough. Or have I?

I learned my lesson. Never trust Kirk Cousins in prime time games, again. Ever again. If you can’t bury Washington at home in prime time after the past three weeks of massive points totals then I can only resort to going back and fading him again so it would make sense for myself to be hasty enough jump on the Chiefs who showed well with Matt Moore against the Packers at home.

But…

There’s always that one stat that will do your nut in, and knowing that Cousins is 5-0 against non-NFC North teams, and the Vikings have averaged 35 ppg in their last two road games I believe that this could be a trap game for those thinking the Chiefs at home could get it done because they were nearly there against the Packers.

I’ll take the Vikings with the -1 on the spread and the ‘Overs’ set at 48 in this one.

Out Route

Who am I completely off this week:

The Cardinals at home to the 49ers just kissed their season goodbye.

Figuratively and literally. Or is it metaphorically? Either way. They still have reps to play for as this young offense is still looking to gain further cohesion and at this point and result they get is a bonus.

We saw a chunk play by Andy Isabella as he hit paydirt for the first time in his career as we saw 4-38 by Larry Fitzgerald. It could be more of this ‘youth movement’ going forward and that could lead to inconsistency. That to me cause for concern in redraft and I’m selling them away where I can.

This means you can probably fade David Johnson for the rest of the season too, as he deals with another injury. I’d bank on the once awesome David Johnson potentially being moved in the offseason, and the energy that Kenyan Drake brought after being traded by Miami this week to the Cardinals also could be infectious enough for them to make that move.

The times are changing in Arizona however things are looking up as a whole. But it’s going to sting for fantasy for the rest of the season.

The 9 Route

A straight forward confidence play of the week:

The Buffalo Bills are at home to Washington. So, via Draft Kings:

Play Josh Allen ($6500).

Play John Brown ($6100).

Play Devin Singletary ($4700).

Play Dawson Knox ($2800).

Play the Bills DST ($3800).

Find a way to stack a combination of them in your lineups and feel pretty good about it!

Hail Mary Play Of The Week

I have a feeling this is going to be a Penn State alumni weekend.

I love the matchup for Allen Robinson against the Eagles on the road. I’m going to chalk him up for over 100 yards and AT LEAST one touchdown.

And in the same matchup, the Bears have allowed the 5th most receptions to opposition Running Backs, so I am going to mark Miles Sanders down to set a career-high 5 receptions for 50 yards and AT LEAST one touchdown.

I love the matchup for Chris Godwin at Seattle this week. I’m going to chalk him up for over 110 yards and AT LEAST one touchdown.

If Aaron Jones can do it, so can Saquon Barkley who gets Dallas at home this week. I have Barkley for 22 carries, 5 receptions, and AT LEAST one touchdown.

Am I crazy? Yeah. Probably. But it’s called a hail mary for a reason. Have fun with it!

And there you have it!
