The Only Waiver Article You Need for Week 12 (2021)

Week 11 is in the books and what a crazy week is was. We saw the Texans beat the Titans, the Bills lose to Jonathan Taylor..err..the Colts, and the highest game total of the week according to Vegas, Chiefs/Cowboys, has a total of 28 points. As with every week in the NFL, we had a few unexpected guys have some big games, and we have a few big name players going down with injury. GoingFor2 has you covered with The Only Waiver Article You Need for Week 12…

WR DeAndre Carter (WFT) 4% Rostership

Consider this add the for the deeper leagues or Bye Week filler. 5’8″ DeAndre Carter has now scored in three straight games, two against respectful secondaries in Denver and Carolina. He has gone 8/129/3 the past three games. Although regression seems likely, Carter is definitely worth a roster spot in deeper leagues as he’s carved out a nice role as their WR2 behind McLaurin. Jarred Riccadonna @ricco_3733

WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling (GB) 17%

If Allen Lazard misses another week with his shoulder injury, Marquez Valdez-Scantling is a viable pickup this week. Scantling has the fourth-most targets on the season for the Packers, even though he was out for five games! He posted 123 yards and a score against Minnesota last week.

With Jalen Ramsey on DeVante Adams this week against the Rams, Scantling will probably be seeing coverage from a medicore-at-best Darious Williams. The Los Angeles defense averages two receiving scores per game over the last three weeks top their opposition. Cecily Riddell @MrsTeamRiddell

WR Cedrick Wilson (DAL) 9%

The year, 2021. Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb are out. Enter stage left, Cedrick Wilson. The player with the 3rd most targets in Week 11’s lackluster performance against the Chiefs. These are confusing times. CeeDee Lamb has a concussion and I would be very surprised to see him suit up on Thanksgiving this week.

That leaves Michael Gallup as the top WR and Cedrick Wilson as the #2 based on what we have seen this year and last week. 7 targets only trailed Gallup and Schultz on the team. If you are picking him up, you would obviously be looking to start him this week. The matchup isn’t fantastic against the Raiders though.

They have been pretty tough against WRs this season. If you’re desperate because of AZ/KC byes or injuries, you will have worse options than a top pass catcher for the Cowboys. Kyle Bazin @KyleTheCommish

RB TY Johnson (NYJ) 29%

Currently owned in only 29 percent of Sleeper redraft leagues, Johnson has already had moderate success on the season, Over the last six games, he has amassed 21 catches for 242 yards and two touchdowns. Although his rushing involvement has been extremely minimal( 20 rushes for 61 yards and one touchdown over that span), his role will likely increase over the next few weeks.

It was announced on Monday that Michael Carter would miss the next 2-3 weeks with a high ankle sprain. At this point in time, it appears that Tevin Coleman will likely take over the primary rushing responsibility. With that being said, the increased touches should allow Johnson to be a viable weekly flex with Carter out. Currently the RB39 on the season, Johnson now has the opportunity for even better results. WR Nick Westbrook-Ikhine (TEN) 2%

Nick Westbrook-Ikhine was a popular waiver wire pickup after Week 3 of the season. A.J. Brown and Julio Jones were both banged up at the time, and Westbrook-Ikhine had a suprsing Week 3 performance. Sound familiar? After Week 11, we are running it back.

Julio Jones is on injured reserve, and A.J. Brown left Sunday’s game with a rib injury. Meanwhile, Westbrook-Ikhine had his biggest game of the season. He snagged 7 balls on 8 targets for 107 yards. Brown’s injury doesn’t appear to be long term but the wide receiver room is getting thin in Tennessee. Westbrook-Ikhine is once again an option for teams looking for wide receiver depth. Jay Christensen @JayC_DFF

TE Logan Thomas (WFT) 54%

I’ve been waiting for the perfect time to share this PSA, and now seems like as good a time as any. Placed on injured reserve on October 6th, Thomas is expected to be designated for a return from IR this week.

This designation will open up a 21 day practice window for Washington to activate him to the game day roster, or place him on season ending IR. Over the three games that he has played this season, he registered 12 catches( on 14 targets) for 117 yards and two touchdowns. Last year, Thomas finished as the PPR TE3.

With his upside, Thomas should be stashed by teams in need of an upgrade at tight end. Owned in only 56 percent of redraft Sleeper leagues, he could be the difference maker in bringing home a trophy or not.
