The Only Waiver Wire Article You Need, Week 2 (2022)

WR Curtis Samuel (WAS) 13% Rostered

Samuel is finally healthy, and that means he is geared up to be an offensive chess piece for the Commanders similar to his usage in Carolina where he had 2 top 25 PPR finishes under Ron Rivera. His ability to be a dollar store Deebo should be a big boost to his fantasy value season-long in a Commanders offense that was seemingly undervalued all offseason long. We saw his usage coming out of the backfield and lining up all over the field led to a largely successful week 1 which should lead to a few high-ceiling weeks throughout the rest of the season. WR Robbie Anderson (CAR) 17% Rostered

Ok, so I know I was one who read the reports of Anderson not being happy with Mayfield as his new quarterback, even though recent reports had Anderson stating “It’s water under the bridge, ” and assumed it would be the DJ Moore show. Yet, Anderson was targeted eight times for five receptions, while Moore hauled in only three receptions on six targets. Now, I feel Moore will command more as the season goes on and Mayfield gets more comfortable with the offense, but Anderson is obviously the WR2.

That means flex play and WR2/WR3 numbers for those needy weeks. I had him on the bench in a few leagues and he won’t stay there. Week 2 is versus the Giants’ defense that just pulled off a win against the Titans, but I still feel comfortable rolling with him at flex. Owned in 38% of Yahoo, 10% of ESPN, and 92% of Sleeper leagues. Go grab him, especially with the news of injuries already in the league, Anderson could be boom or bust weekly, but I am happy to try and snag him! Courtney Burrows @LuvTractor3

RB Jamaal Williams (DET) 40% Rostered

This might not be the sexiest pick-up of the week, but if you have a spot for Jamaal Williams, it’s certainly worth a thought. Even with Swift’s big week one, the Lions still had a role for Jamaal Williams.

During week one, Williams had a 33% snap share compared to swifts 67% snap share, now, this isn’t a significant amount of snaps for Williams, but the work Williams received during this time might be a surprise. Williams had 11 attempts and two goal-line touchdowns, while Swift saw 15 attempts and one rushing touchdown. Swift saw most of the 3rd down snaps(13 of 14), but Williams saw most of the red zone snaps(4 of 5). If the red zone snaps stay true to week one, Williams should see a lot of touchdowns behind a great offensive line in Detroit.

During Williams’s time with the Lions, Williams has seen a career-high in attempts and yards, but he had some help due to swift only playing 13 games last season; but swift hasn’t played more than 13 games in his short career. And if the lions want to prevent Swift from missing more time, they will be sure to use Williams a little bit more, especially in more dangerous situations like in the red zone.

With week two against the Washington Commanders, Williams should be in line to Score another touchdown and get a good amount of carries. Williams should also be on many people’s waiver wire, with him only being rostered in 47% of Yahoo leagues and 36% in ESPN Leagues. Williams is worth the look and should be added in deep leagues. Austin Fullington @ajohnson1033

WR DeAndre Carter (LAC)

The Chargers are likely to be without Keenan Allen and Jalen Guyton for at least Week 2. The 29-year-old journeyman DeAndre Carter is the potential replacement for Allen if he does miss time with a hamstring injury. Carter came out of nowhere for a 4/3/64/1 receiving line in Week 1. He provides speed and reliable hands for a suddenly depleted WR corps.

He will see his 37% snap share increase in Week 2 against the Chiefs. That game has the potential to be a shootout with tons of opportunities for targets on both sides of the field. Carter isn’t a household name, but that works in the savvy fantasy manager’s favor. He can likely be picked up with minimal (if any) FAAB. Stash him on the bench while waiting to see how the Keenan Allen injury plays out. Erik Johnson @FantasyBBQ

WR Devin Duvernay (BAL) 21% Rostered

We rarely see a Baltimore Ravens pass catcher as an interesting waiver wire pickup, but here we are. Duvernay made the most of his four targets as the Ravens’ number two wide receiver. He was able to find the endzone twice, with touchdowns of 25 and 17 yards. The biggest reason I went with Duvernay over any of the other flash-in-a-pan players was that he saw a fifty-one percent snap share.

Another reason was the pregame game script really didn’t point in the direction of needing to throw the ball but Duvernay was able to turn his thirteen percent of targets into 21 full PPR fantasy points. There will be other games this season where the wide receivers will need to be used more and Duvernay seems like just as good of an option as any to be able to throw into your flex spot. Baltimore welcomes in the Dolphins in week two. Jerry Wilke @JerryWilkeFM

RB Jaylen Warren (PIT) 7% Rostered

Jaylen Warren is already The Steelers RB, and Najee Harris is already banged up. I know the injury is said to be minor and early reports say he should be ready for Week 2, however, The Steelers have already stated they want to lighten Najee Harris’ workload. If Najee Harris can’t go Warren is probably the top add of the week, and even if he can go I still think he can be added. Jared Good @TheYetiExpress

RB Khalil Herbert (CHI) 43% Rostered

If you are one of the lucky leagues to still have Khalil Herbert on waivers GET HIM NOW!!! After what was just a meh game by David Montgomery, 17 att 26 yards with 66% snap share. The Bears used Herbert just 29% of the snaps. He had 9 att for 45 yards and one TD. The Bears moved the ball better when Herbert was in as well. I can see a quick hook for Mongomory if in the next game vs Green Bay he does not get off to a quick start. There is most definitely a role for Herbert in this offense. Jayson Barnes @fantasyjay77

TE Gerald Everett (LAC) 34% Rostered

If you haven’t been following Gerald Everett’s career, you must know a few things about why he was so undervalued this season. He has been somewhat of a disappointment performance-wise, however, he started off his career in Los Angeles with Jared Goff as his quarterback, competing for targets with Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods.

He then went to Seattle, which hasn’t properly utilized a tight end since Jimmy Graham. But even so, after Russell Wilson returned from injury last season, Everett ranked in the top ten for the remainder of the season in fantasy scoring. Everett ranked 5th among receivers last season (those who had at least 48 catches) in catch percentage! His 54 yards and a score last week could be the start of something spicy between him and Justin Herbert. Cecily Riddell @mrsteamriddell

WR Javis Landry (NO) 55% Rostered

Jarvis Landry signed with his hometown team in hopes of being a complementary piece to their offense. But he is proving that he might be more than just a complementary wideout. Landry was in the game for 72 percent of the offensive snaps. Even without a touchdown, He had an impressive stat line of seven catches on nine targets and 114 yards. However, that is not the stat that makes me want to add him to my rosters.

Landry was in the game for 82 percent of pass plays and a team-high target share of 27 percent. I don’t expect him to be the highest targeted receiver all drafting long but there will definitely be games this season that he will be a fantasy play for your rosters. With the injuries that have occurred this week if you have an empty roster spot, Landry is a guy that you can target to add and stash Landry for the future of your team. Mike Hicks @dropthemikeFF

TE Taysom Hill (NO) 12% Rostered

Remember when Taysom Hill was a viable fantasy quarterback because of his legs? Remember when he got an absurd contract for being a swiss army knife? His passing skills were always mediocre, but his ability to run is real. It’s nice to know Dennis Allen still wants to use him after the departure of Sean Payton. Since tight end is a dearth of talent, why wouldn’t you pick up the third-highest-scoring guy at the position? Hill is currently rostered in just 3.8% of ESPN leagues. Nathan Janasik @mellamomoron

WR Corey Davis (NYJ) 9% Rostered

After all the preseason hype around rookie wide receiver Garrett Wilson, rookie running back Breece Hall, and second-year wide receiver Elijah Moore, it was the forgotten veteran Corey Davis that outscored all three of them in Week 1. That won’t be the norm as the season progresses, but Davis being on 9 percentage owned is downright disrespectful. Geoff Lambert @GeoffLambert77
