Three Sleeper Dynasty Prospects No One is Talking About
We are entering draft season. The second most exciting time of the year for dynasty owners — in some cases the most exciting. I tasked a few of my writers to come up with some guys that aren’t a the top of many draft boards for owners, but could be that next big name in the NFL that no one saw coming. The Alvin Kamaras, Chase Claypools, and James Robinsons of the world. These are guys going in the mid-second round or later in current mock drafts, and if you are drafting in the range, you need to take a good long look a these guys…
WR Cade Johnson – South Dakota State
Johnson is not likely to be drafted in your four-round rookie draft. With a strong Senior Bowl performance, he showed that playing at a small school is not going to hold him back. He profiles as a slightly thicker version of Hollywood Brown or Darnell Mooney, the type of player we have seen succeed in the league. His yards after catch stat popped, over his career he has come in at 9.4, outpacing Heisman winner Devonta Smith (8.9 YAC).
He has displayed excellent kick return skills (his school’s all-time leader in kick return yards) having taken multiple kicks for touchdowns. There is a path to a roster spot via special teams which could lead to an expanding role in an offense. And he will be free, either a very late rookie fourth or go completely undrafted. – Jeff Bell @4WhomJBellTolls
WR Elijah Moore – Ole Miss
From the SEC some of the best NFL players are found, which brings me to Elijah Moore, WR Ole Miss who is 5’9′ and 184lbs. With all the other highly talked about talent at WR in this rookie class, I am hoping he falls to the late 2nd or 3rd round to snag. Ole Miss produced D.K. Metcalf and A.J. Brown and that wasn’t even under new Head Coach Lane Kiffin’s high-powered offense. Moore is going to be a huge asset to any NFL that needs a slot receiver that compliments their deep threat wideout. Moore’s quick, consistent hands and explosiveness will make him a worthy addition for seasons to come.
He is a smaller receiver but has proven himself time and time again to be an underrated beast that is elusive and aggressive. I will be happy to have him on my roster and think that he will translate into a guy like Keke Coutee or Tyler Lockett who might not be the main flashy receiver on the field, but will find ways to get it done despite being under 6’0. Hotty Toddy and keep jewels like him as an afterthought for me! – Courtney Burrows @LuvTractor3
RB/WR Demetric Felton – UCLA
Felton played most of his career at UCLA as a running back. But as a running back he was a major pass-catching threat which is something all NFL teams love to see out of their backfield. In his senior year, Felton ranked sixth in the NCAA in all-purpose yards per game. I did see him as a third-down back especially since he is 5’8″ and 189 pounds. But at the Senior Bowl Felton might have had the best v thing happen to him.
During the Senior Bowl, he played Wide Receiver and completely helped his stock rise during the practices throughout the week. He has the skills in route running and in the open field that will help him succeed as a wide receiver. At the Senior Bowl, he had 2 catches, 26 yards, and a touchdown. To me, his player comp is Curtis Samuel and is that type of versatile player most teams need. –Mike Hicks @DropTheMikeFF
