Top 10 Rookies and Ideal Landing Spots
We are just about a week away from the NFL and anticipation is at an all-time high. With no sports going on right now the draft is in even more of a spotlight and people are doing more start-up drafts then ever before. With these drafts going and rookies being taken in them. Where are we rooting for these guys to get picked and what is the ideal landing spot for the best opportunity for the player to shine? So here’s my current top ten and the spots where they have the best chance to succeed.
-
D’Andre Swift – RB -Georgia
Ideal Landing Spot- Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins picked up Jordan Howard this offseason the RB position to bang team between the tackles and take the short-yardage situations which are perfect for Swift. D’Andre Swift is an explosive back who doesn’t need a ton of touches to be incredibly productive. In a backfield with Howard, Swift can get 10-15 touches a game and be incredibly productive. Swift is an outstanding pass catcher who can be lined up at receiver and move around the offense. This gives the Dolphins a nice weapon and dump-off valve for a young quarterback.
2. Jonathan Taylor-RB- Wisconsin
Ideal Landing Spot- LA Chargers
The Chargers spent big money resigning Austin Ekeler this offseason while letting Melvin Gordon walk opening a pretty big hole in their backfield. Ekeler is a great back who’s a dynamic receiver out of the backfield but you don’t want him banging between the tackles or having the red zone work. The Chargers offense scores a lot of points and feeds the running back a lot. This would play into Taylor’s skillset giving him a lot of TD upside and still get a lot of caries.
3. Jerry Jeudy-WR- Alabama
Ideal Landing Spot- Las Vegas Raiders
The Raiders have been trying to land a number one receiver for a while and it seems they’ve all had something in common. They are good route runners who know how to create big windows for their quarterback to throw into. Jerry Jeudy is the absolute best at this in this draft. Jeudy is a technician as a route runner who knows how to put DBs in the spin cycle. The Raiders offense could get Jeudy a lot of targets where he could shine.
4. CeeDee Lamb– WR- Oklahoma
Ideal Landing Spot- New York Jets

The Jets receiving corps is a bunch of slot receivers and Breshad Perriman and that’s not enough. None of these guys is the answer for Sam Darnold or will give a team quality volume. CeeDee Lamb is the type of talent that forces a quarterback to feed him the ball. Sam Darnold hasn’t had a receiver anywhere near this caliber in his career. He can do everything for him and provide a high volume option who could easily be considered the top receiver in the class.
5. J.K. Dobbins– RB- Ohio State
Ideal Landing Spot- Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers lack an explosive element on the offense. There’s no single guy who can score any time he touches the ball and keeps the defense on their toes. J.K Dobbins gives them exactly that. Dobbins has game-breaking speed that can score any time he touches the ball. Dobbins in a backfield with Conner will keep both fresh where they can produce at their best. Dobbins has the big play ability to give you fantasy value off of minimal caries but has also shown he can handle 30 touches a game. If Conner isn’t designed after the season or goes down again this could lead to massive production for Dobbins.
6. Cam Akers– RB – Florida State
Ideal Landing Spot- Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Bucs have consistently struck out drafting runningbacks, consistently missing on the every-down back.  Akers can solve that problem, he’s a complete back who can run between the tackles, run outside with speed and power. What makes him an even better fit is that he’s a tremendous pass catcher and even better pass blocker. This will keep him on the field and in Tom Brady‘s good graces. His skill set as a receiver and blocker will be the perfect compliment to Brady who loves a good check down.
7. Clyde Edwards-Helair- RB – LSU
Ideal Landing Spot- Los Angeles Rams
The Rams offense is at its best when their running back is versatile and does a little bit of everything. Edwards-Helaire is that kind of runner. He’s well versed in all aspects of the run game keeping defenses honest on where he’s going to run because he can do it all. The part of his game that will help the offense go and have him racking up fantasy points is his ability as a receiver. Edwards-Helair is the best receiving back in the class and will be a huge weapon in Los Angeles.
8. Justin Jefferson– WR – LSU
Ideal Landing Spot- Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles need a safe target for Carson Wentz that isn’t a tight end. Jefferson is as safe as it comes. Jefferson has hands with guerrilla glue built in that if it’s in his range it is his. He has good speed, fantastic route running and can run after the catch. Wentz has always tended to go towards his slot receivers which is where Jefferson projects best to, the only difference between him and prior guys in the slot is his hands. The Eagles’ fast-paced offense should garner Jefferson a ton of volume.
9. Jalen Reagor– WR- TCU
Ideal Landing Spot- Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens offense has a ton of speed on it with Hollywood Brown And Miles Boykin on the outside but neither bring with Jalen Reagor does. Reagor is an animal with the ball in his hands. He breaks tackles and is elusive as can be in the open field. His run after catch element gives the Ravens a lot of options to use him and with the amount of pre-snap movement he can be a serious weapon on end rounds and screens. Reagor also showed a good ability to adjust to balls thrown his way with one of the NCAA’s most inaccurate passers. Jackson played very accurately last year but his ball placement sometimes missed and Reagor shows the ability to adjust perfectly. While the Ravens spent a first on Hollywood Brown last year, he doesn’t have a high volume receiver skill-set and Reagor does.
10.Tee Higgins– WR- Clemson
Ideal Landing Spot- Buffalo Bills
The Bills are doing a great job building a surrounding cast around Josh Allen with Stefon Diggers and John Brown at the receiver position. The main thing they are missing on that offense is a big-bodied receiver who gives them a legit red zone threat. Higgins is the best above the rim player of this year’s receiving class, showing the ability to box out and use his size to create mismatches. His good hands and ability to create separation at the catch point will allow Allen the ability to force him the ball and have a huge advantage of 50/50 balls. The Bills offense is ascending and a guy with his touchdown upside gives him a nice wr2 floor with upside.
