Top 5 NFL Thanksgiving Day Performances

1: QB Philip Rivers

.Rivers led the L.A. Chargers to a dominating victory over arguably the NFL’s current worst football team over the last 3 weeks by throwing for 435 yards and 3 touchdown passes against the reeling Dallas Cowboys. He was aided by 2 interceptions of QB Dak Prescott, ( That’s 5 interceptions and zero TDs from Prescott in the Cowboys last 2 games as Dallas made NFL history today by going the longest stretch without an offensive TD in franchise history.) from his defense but put the team on his back for most of Thursdays matchup as the Chargers beat the Cowboys 28 to 6.

2: WR Keenan Allen

The L.A. Charger’s best WR caught 11 passes for 172 yards and a TD against the Cowboys in their aforementioned beating of the Dallas Cowboys. He now has 56 catches on the year for 755 yards and 3 TDs. While his numbers aren’t eye-popping on the season they most certainly were today.

3: QB Case Keenum

Keenum continued his unexpected and stellar play for the Minnesota Vikings in their victory over the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving by completing 21 of 30 passes for 282 yards and 2 TDs as the Vikings beat the Lions 30 to 23. I think its safe to say that QB Teddy Bridgewater will remain the Vikings backup QB for at least the rest of this season barring an injury. Keenum has earned his spot as the Vikings starting QB by going now 7-2 as a starter on the year so far and I am not expecting a letdown from him until the playoffs.

4: QB Matthew Stafford

Stafford nearly leads the Detroit Lions to a comeback victory and showed toughness after continuing to play after he was obviously not 100 percent. Stafford threw for 250 yards and 2 TDs and did so with a nearly absent running game. He deserves credit for that. If the unbalanced Detroit Lions are to grab a wild-card playoff spot they will need to get more production from their RBs the rest of the way.

5: WR Marvin Jones

Jones had 6 catches for 109 yards in a losing effort and caught both of QB Matthew Stafford’s TD passes. Marvin Jones had an amazing TD catch deep down the right sideline in double coverage in the final quarter of this matchup. Jones is known for great acrobatic catches but this one is (in my opinion) the best play he’s ever made in his career. (I’d love it if My Philadelphia Eagles had him playing opposite of WR Alshon Jeffry.)

  • I did not include any players from Tonight’s Giants vs Redskins game due to the simple fact that both teams are downright awful, and the outcome has zero bearing or importance on the season. They simply played the Toilet Bowl.
