Top Stacks For FanDuel MLB DFS 5/21/19

Happy Tuesday everyone! I’m back after a long hiatus for the end of school. I appreciate you guys taking time to read my articles and I didn’t want to rush advice since you put your hard earned money on the line. Today looks like a very interesting slate because of this crazy weather we have been having this spring. I’m changing up the format a bit to bring you stacks for cash and GPP contests as well as a bonus stack if there are numerous stacks that I like. I’ll be looking at weather, splits and recent performance as well as salary to give you the best stacks to build around.

Cash Stack – St. Louis Cardinals

MLB FanDuel Lineup 5/21/19

The St. Louis Cardinals will face Homer Bailey who is allowing a .303 average to righties this season. A 22 MPH wind to left field should amplify success in power numbers to the righties that like to pull the ball. Choosing your pitcher may dictate which Cardinals players you choose to play but there will be plenty of success to go around. Nearly 25% of his pitches are sliders or curveballs. A 22 MPH wind coming across those pitches may be the difference in leaving a few hangers over the plate.

Yadier Molina (C) $3,200

Yadier Molina gives you solid value at the catcher position. Most people go with first basemen in this position so he should be lower owned and you could still use your utility slot for a Freddie Freeman or Paul Goldschmidt. Molina is averaging 9.15 FPPG. Molina probably wont get you a ton of points, but he provides a low ownership option as a cheaper Cardinal. He’s only batting .267 this season but he has 31 RBI already.

Paul DeJong (SS) $4,200

Paul DeJong has been on fire lately. He’s averaging 13.14 FPPG this season and is in the middle of a potent lineup. He has a very well rounded game that makes him one of the best at the position. I think it’s important to have him in your lineup between guys that should have big games, but there are slightly cheaper options at the position with similar upside due to speed mainly. This is where I would try to save money on a Cardinals stack if I had to in order to have one of the elite pitching options like Zack Greinke.

Marcell Ozuna (OF) $4,300

Marcell Ozuna is one of the better pull hitters in the league right now. He does strike out a little more than I would like to see but he provides major upside in a GPP if you can afford him. If not you should consider Jose Martinez or possibly Dexter Fowler instead. A 2-3-4 punch of Goldschmidt, DeJong, and Ozuna would provide immense upside but obviously would constrict your budget. Ozuna already has 13 home runs and 40 RBI which I expect to increase after today.

GPP Stack – Atlanta Braves

MLB FanDuel Lineup 5/21/19

The Atlanta Braves are more of a GPP play for me just because they have higher salaries and will require some cheaper, riskier plays around them. The Braves I like are on fire right now. There is also a 20 MPH wind blowing out to right center. They face Shaun Anderson who will be making his second start of the season.

Freddie Freeman (1B) $4,400

Freddie Freeman had hit a home run in four straight games until last night. He’s the most expensive option at first base but has great upside as well as a safe floor. The wind blowing out into the power alley is intriguing, but so is his knack for drawing walks and finding any way to get on base. He’s hitting .318 and has a 12.1 BB%. He’s definitely worth the price.

Ronald Acuna (OF) $4,100

Ronald Acuna is hoping to stay hot from last night. He hit two home runs and a double. He’s averaging 11.72 FPPG this season but has scored fantasy points in his last 12 games. He offers a safe floor, and I think he’ll go off by taking advantage of hitting lead off against an inexperience pitcher. He has shown his power from the 1 spot in the order and I expect that to continue with plenty of power behind him to add to his 29 runs. He has scored at least 15 fantasy points in five of his last six games.

Austin Riley (OF) $3,300

Austin Riley has found early success in the big leagues as he’s averaging 14.36 FPPG. In just five games he already has two home runs, four RBI and four runs. He’s hitting .421 and is definitely worth a shot in a GPP. For only $100 more, Dansby Swanson could be a good substitute so that you have the 1-2-3 guys. Riley will likely bat in the sixth spot which would spread out your shares of Braves a little too much. You can have up to four players from a team so you could always do two mini-stacks such as Acuna and Freeman and then Riley and Brian McCann or Nick Markakis.
