Ultimate Rookie Report Week 16

It is devastating to be out of the fantasy playoffs, and the manner I went down was incredibly rough. Lucky for me, I got to live vicariously through my wife who had a wild ride watching Monday Night Football. Fantasy football is fun because it gets us to be invested in individuals on teams we normally wouldn’t care about. Watching my wife lose her mind over every McCaffrey touch ALMOST made me feel better. There’s always next year. Feel free to reach out and tell me your fantasy story.

These rookies may have helped you win a championship this week, especially if you play in a PPR league. They were the best of the class this week.

5. Tetairoa McMillan (19.3)

Tetairoa McMillan has become the betting favorite for offensive rookie of the year. In a game going head to head with fellow standout rookie wide receiver Emeka Egbuka, McMillan dominated. He caught six of his ten targets for 73 yards and a touchdown. McMillan will have a tough outing next week with the Seattle Seahawks coming to town. Seattle is currently tied for 14th in pass defense. A win for the Panthers and a loss for the Buccaneers locks up the NFC South for the Panthers, so there is a lot on the line next week. Will Tetairoa shine?

4. Harold Fannin Jr (19.5)

During a game in which the Browns gave the Buffalo Bills a scare, Harold Fannin Jr tried to carry the team on his back. Fannin caught the first touchdown of the game and ended the game with the final touchdown. It wasn’t enough for the win but fantasy managers were happy. Fun fact, Fannin led the game in targets but only had 35 total (34 receiving and 1 rushing) yards. The Steelers are horrendous against the pass, so there is room for Fannin to have another big week if your fantasy playoffs are still going.

3. Charlie Smyth (20)

It’s always nice to see a kicker on the list. Smyth, the Saints kicker, hit five field goals and two extra points this week. With distances of 35, 49, 36, 50, and 39 Smyth made the ball travel further down the field than opposing quarterback Brady Cook.

2. RJ Harvey (22.1)

Despite the loss, Harvey had a solid day for fantasy managers, especially considering the Jaguars currently have the best rush defense in the league. The Broncos had a weird game in general only rushing the ball 17 times total between four different players. Harvey took seven of those carries for 50 yards and a touchdown. He also added four catches for 71 yards. The Broncos travel to Kansas City on Christmas day. The Chiefs are ranked ninth in rush defense for the year but also have completely unraveled since Patrick Mahomes went down, so it’s especially hard to predict how the game will go for Harvey.

1. Ashton Jeanty (31.8)

This is the performance fantasy managers expected to see when they drafted Ashton Jeanty at 11.33. Jeanty carried the ball a whopping 24 times for 128 yards and a touchdown. His lone catch went for 60 yards and a second touchdown. This is just an insane performance against the best defense in the league. Where was this all season? The Giants’  31st ranked run defense comes to town next week, so theoretically Jeanty should be in for a massive game.

Congratulations or good luck friends!
