Ultimate Rookie Report Week 2 2024
It was an odd week one for a lot of stud players and some of the top rookies were not immune. Caleb Williams won his game, but on the back of his defense. Williams managed a paltry 93 passing yards with no touchdowns. Marvin Harrison Jr, the heavily drafted wide receiver, caught one pass for 4 yards. Rome Odunze caught one pass for 11 yards before getting hurt. Hopefully, for stars young and old, this week is an aberration and not a trend for the year.
As a quick point of reference, I have changed the place where I get my data. I previously used one of my fantasy leagues which is now defunct and was not particularly efficient anyway. Now, I’m using www.fantasypros.com. The only difference is I don’t know their specific rules for quarterback points. It’s not a huge deal. The only time that may even be noticeable is when comparing the quarterbacks to other years. All other positions continue to be ranked based on points per reception scoring.
Here we go!

Bo Nix was the 6th quarterback drafted, but the first to make the list for rookies of the week this year. Nix threw 42 passes for 26 completions and 138 yards. That is a sexy 5.3 yards per completion. He also threw two interceptions. Things could get better with time? Maybe?

It’s not easy to make plays when you’re lined up against Jalen Ramsey, but Thomas delivered. Brian Thomas snagged all four of his targets for 47 yards and a touchdown; a solid start for the young man out of LSU.

Justin Herbert only threw for 144 yards this week. Ladd had the most of these yards with 39. Five catches and a touchdown boosted the value of his performance and, sadly, this is still the third best performance of the week… Somebody has to catch passes in this offense and it has to get better, right?

The opening game of the season started with a rookie bang. Xavier Worthy used his blazing speed to catch two passes for 47 yards and a touchdown. He also had a single rush of 21 yards and a touchdown. I’d love to see the number of targets increase, but two touchdowns is a hell of a way to announce your NFL career.
Finally, a performance truly Worthy (see what I did there?) of making the rookie of the week list!

Jayden Daniels had an average performance throwing the ball in a week one full of mediocre performances. Daniels completed 17/24 for 184 yards and no touchdowns. However, this isn’t the whole story. When it comes to quarterbacks in fantasy, it’s nice to have someone who uses their legs. Daniels ran the ball SIXTEEN TIMES for 88 yards and two touchdowns. The Washington Commanders have found a fantasy gem in Jayden Daniels.
Just a quick note, TE production was the worst it has been in a long time across the board. Brock Bowers put in a comparatively solid 11.8 for third place at the position for the week and 7th overall rookie.
I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I like writing it. Welcome to the 2024 season and thank you for reading.
