Ultimate Rookie Report Week 2 2025

Before I get started, last week I received this tweet:

And he’s right. I changed the way I was keeping track to speed through and when I saw a name I didn’t recognize I just did a quick Google search. Google AI said he was a rookie because AI sucks at sports. I apologize to you dear reader, and Harold Fannin Jr., who had 13.6 points and should have been recognized. Hopefully I get to talk about him more in the future because he is an intriguing piece as the Browns (currently) second tight end. I am making it a point to check everything through Pro-Football-Reference.com before putting them in the column.

The rookie class is not shaping up the way I thought it would at all after two weeks. Maybe they’re growers and not showers? The number one of the week was merely the 64th best player overall. It has got to get better, right?

These guys were serviceable in a PPR fantasy league this week

5. Emeka Egbuka (12.9)

Against a stout Houston Texans defense, Emeka Egbuka returned to my little countdown this week. Egbuka caught four of the seven passes thrown his way for 29 yards and a touchdown. We’re really celebrating little victories this week. Three touchdowns in the first two games is a hell of a start to your career. I can’t find an exhaustive list, but players who have completed this feat include Odell Beckham Jr, Randy Moss, Terry McLaurin, and Justin Jefferson.  Congratulations Egbuka!

4. Cam Skattebo (13.9)

Skattebo at least appears to have taken the reins in the Giants’ backfield. Doubling Tyrone Tracy’s carries (11 to 5), Skattebo had 45 yards and a touchdown. He also caught two passes for 14 yards. Jerry Jones specifically wanted to shut down the opponent’s run game, so Skattebo could be even better next week!

3. Bhayshul Tuten (15.4)

After Tank Bigsby was traded to the Eagles last week, Bhayshul Tuten became the second string running back in Jacksonville. He had eight carries for 42 yards and caught two passes for 32 yards and a touchdown. Tuten could put up some decent points this season, especially with the injury prone Travis Etienne being the only thing in his way to fantasy stardom.

2. Elic Ayomanor (15.6)

Cam Ward has not produced for fantasy managers yet, but another rookie has looked pretty good. Elic Ayomanor caught four of his six targets for 56 yards and the first receiving touchdown of the Tennessee Titans’ young season

1.Tetairoa McMillan (16)

As a Panthers fan, McMillan feels like a beautiful flower growing out of a steaming pile of manure. Bryce Young threw a whopping 55 passes this week and a lot (10) of those looks went McMillan’s way. He hauled in six passes for 100 yards. McMillan should continue to dominate going forward.

Predicting Travis Hunter as a part of the countdown was my mistake. He is impossible to predict and I am now firmly on the side of “I’ll believe it when I see it”. I am putting my chips this week on Tetairoa McMillan and Emeka Egbuka.

I hope you guys didn’t go as rookie heavy as I did in your drafts. Good luck out there.
