Ultimate Rookie Report Week 6

Week of Ouchies

This was a devastating week for injuries. Our dear friend Anthony Richardson went down early with a shoulder sprain. Travis Kelce hurt his ankle simply by turning his body upfield. Even Justin Jefferson, who hasn’t missed a game in his career, pulled his hamstring and ended up on injured reserve. The number one on this very list broke. Who could it be?

Fantasy PPR points tell me who should be on this list.

5. Bryce Young (18.28)

It has been tough being a Panthers fan this year. We traded away A LOT to get Bryce Young, the number one overall pick in the draft. This week almost makes it worth it. Almost. 25/41 for 247 yards and 3 touchdowns. Unfortunately he also threw 2 interceptions but progress! Kind of! He is currently unstartable in fantasy, but keep an eye out just in case he keeps growing as a player.

4. Jordan Addison (18.4)

I just didn’t believe in Addison this year. Maybe part of it was spite over him leaving Pitt (my alma mater). Addison has been one of the better rookies this year. Nine passes went his way this week, six of which he caught for 64 yards and a touchdown. This will be a fascinating case study moving forward. Will he be able to thrive as WR1 for Minnesota now that Jefferson is out? r will the extra attention shut him down?

3. Sam LaPorta (19.7)

LaPorta is the number 1 tight end in fantasy this year. This would be the first time that a rookie holds that title, if he holds on. We have a long way to go, but man is he fun to watch. Jared Goff loves him too. This week, he had 3 catches for 47 yards and 2 touchdowns.

2. Puka Nacua (20.1)

Cooper Kupp came back this week and Puka still saw 11 targets. I was worried the star receiver would nerf our fantasy darling, but Stafford now apparently has 2 guys he can focus on. Puka caught 7 passes for 71 yards and a touchdown. He may be in second this week but because of injuries it feels like a one horse rookie race…

1. De’von Achane (21.5)

SAY IT ISN’T SO! Achane is insane in the membrane. Going into Sunday, he had an insane average of 11.4 yards per rush. After Sunday, THAT NUMBER WENT UP TO 12.1! Alas, much like last year like all of our good rookie running backs, Achane got hurt and will miss multiple weeks. At least he’ll be able to come back. His temporary swan song was 11 carries for 151 yards and a touchdown with a fumble. Get well soon, Achane. This article needs you.

Light week coming up for rookies on bye. Just Luke Musgrave and Jayden Reed from the Green Bay Packers. It’s the injuries we really have to worry about.

Stay healthy out there!
