Ultimate Rookie Report Week 6 2024

The top 4 of the week are separated by 0.6 fantasy points. In my three years of writing this column, I don’t think the scoring has ever been so close. 

These guys are ranked on their fantasy value in a points per reception league, which does in fact correlate to their value on the football field.

5. Jayden Daniels (20.7)

This wasn’t Daniels’ typical exceptional accuracy, but it was still a dominant performance against a good Cleveland defense. Daniels’ passes went 14/25 for 238 yards and a touchdown to Dyami Brown. He also carried the ball 11 times for 82 yards. The Commanders are very pleased with how their second overall pick is lifting the whole offense out of last year’s mediocrity. Fantasy managers are happy with taking the swing on him too because he is the second best player in all of fantasy football.

4. Bo Nix (23.1)

Bo Nix went from the nightmare first half last week to an absolute dream of a game this week. Throwing for 19/27 for 206 yards netted Bo two touchdowns against a division rival. He also had eight rushes that averaged 1.125 yards per rush, but led to a touchdown. Nix has been as good at spreading the ball around as advertised, passing to 11 different wide receivers this week.

3. Brian Thomas Jr (23.2)

BTJ continues to quietly impress on a Jacksonville team that finally pulled a W. Thomas caught five of his eight targets for 122 yards and a touchdown. Now that he has usurped the one spot from Christian Kirk, the sky really is the limit. Currently, BTJ is the 5th best wide receiver in the league.

2. Caleb Williams (23.6)

In the Bryce Young bowl, Williams proved the Bears got the better end of the deal. Against a suspect Panthers defense, Williams threw 20/29 for 304 yards and 2 touchdowns. It’s getting harder to be a Caleb hater. I’m going to qualify this as a “he played against a (sigh) garbage team” game but he has been steadily getting better every week. This is exactly what you want to see from a rookie QB.

1. Brock Bowers (23.7)

Without Davante Adams, the Las Vegas Raiders need someone to step up and catch the ball when they inevitably fall behind. This week, Brock showed the NFL what he can do. Bowers caught eight of his 12 targets for 97 yards and a touchdown. Currently Bowers is the best tight end in the league points wise, but that isn’t saying a whole lot in a  year where the tight end position has been pathetic (I’m going to personally take credit for this because this is the year I decided to be a TE bully in Scott Fishbowl. You’re welcome.).

I have to apologize to my dear friend Jayden Daniels. The stat I had from last week wasn’t the best first four games of the season. Jayden Daniels was the most accurate in ANY four game span. That is truly incredible. Daniels’ record of the week is: the first player to pass for over 1000 yards (actually 1135) and rush for 250 (300) in their first five games.

Also, get well soon Malik Nabers. The league, and this column, miss you. If Darius Slayton managed 8 catches for 122 yards and a touchdown just imagine what Nabers would have pulled off…
