Ultimate Rookie Report Week 9 2025

Happy NFL Trade Deadline to those who celebrate! The Jets traded two cornerstones in Quinnen Williams and Sauce Gardner so they can have five first rounders in the next two years. I love rookies… but this is a terrible idea.

Three of these five players may have been in your lineup for PPR fantasy purposes.

5. Ashton Jeanty (19.9)

Brock Bowers may have completely dominated the game, but Ashton Jeanty quietly had a day, too. Against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Jeanty carried the ball 13 times for 42 yards and caught all five targets for 47 yards and a touchdown. Jeanty is currently the 16th best RB for fantasy, despite Las Vegas being a dumpster fire. It will be tough sledding against the Denver Broncos on Thursday night, but Thursday Night Football historically has weird things happen. Maybe Jeanty can DELIVER a show. Get it? Because it’s on Amazon?

4. Tory Horton (20.8)

Horton is feast or famine. He has had four games above 11 points and four games below two (three of those being zeros). This was the biggest feast he has had to date. Four catches led to 48 yards and two touchdowns. As a gambler, I wouldn’t put this guy in my fantasy lineup, but you could put him on the bench so every couple weeks you say “aw man, this bench guy outscored all my wide receivers!” Seattle traded for Rashid Shaheed this week, so consistent targets will be even less likely for the rest of the season. The Arizona Cardinals come to town next week.

3. Kyle Monangai (22.8)

With D’Andre Swift out, Kyle Monangai went off. With 26 carries, Monangai rushed for 176 yards. He also caught three passes for another 22 yards. I want to believe that this is a coming out party for another rookie, but it’s hard to get excited about somebody who exploded on the worst team in the entire league for rush defense. Monangai did run more yards than the Bengals average rush against them (166.4), so that’s something! D’Andre Swift may be back next week so that dampens the excitement for the rookie, but the New York Giants come to town the following and they are 31st in rush defense…

2. Jaxson Dart (27.2)

Jaxson Dart deserves the best little tryer award. His best wide receiver is out for the year. His best friend and stud running back had a horrific injury. Yet, Dart continues making the list when his top two receivers are Darius Slayton and Wan’Dale Robinson. Dart completed 24 of 33 passes for 191 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran the ball himself eight times for 56 yards and another touchdown. I really can’t wait to see Dart fully unleashed next season. Since taking over full time duties in New York in week 4, Dart is the 3rd best fantasy quarterback, despite all the obstacles he is up against. Next week Dart gets a Chicago Bears defense that just allowed a decrepit Joe Flacco to score 42 points. Might as well pencil him into the list already.

1. Colston Loveland (29.8)

Colston Loveland was the seventh best player in fantasy this week regardless of position. In the ping pong match that was the Bears vs Bengals game, Loveland caught six of seven passes for 118 yards and two touchdowns. It’s really hard to take anything away from this game. It was like Madden’s ghost himself put the game on pro difficulty just to run up the score. This is his first score of the season above a 6.8 and he probably wasn’t even on most fantasy rosters. You COULD pick him up, but this feels more like an aberration against the second worst pass defense in the league. With that being said, congratulations on your huge game, Loveland

Good luck on the playoff push!
