Ultimate Rookie Report Weeks 17 and 18

The Holiday Spectacular!

Between general holiday busyness with a toddler and getting so sick I lost 6 pounds, I didn’t get to pay as much attention to football as I’d like. I also lost track of time so it’s the first ever two week Holiday Spectacular! It’s too bad these performances don’t get to have their own spotlight because some truly great things happened while I was away.

Scores are all based on PPR leagues. I’m guessing if you won your championship, you had at least one of these guys.

5. Week 16: Brock Bowers (20.9)

Week 17: Brian Thomas Jr (23.9)

Eleven catches in a game is a lot. 99 yards is also a pretty good game. Good job, Brock!

Thomas caught seven passes for 91 yards and a touchdown. He also had a rush for 18 yards. Good job, Brian! This would have been first place for the week a number of times this season, but rookies decided to go off for fantasy finals apparently.

4. Week 16: Bo Nix (21)

Week 17: Ricky Pearsall (28.7)

Bo completed 29 passes for 263 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also ran the ball three times for a total of 25 yards. Go go, Bo!

Imagine the season that could have been if Pearsall hadn’t gotten shot and needed weeks to heal. This week, Pearsall caught eight passes for 141 yards and a touchdown.

3. Week 16: Caleb Williams (22.8)

    Week 17: Ladd McConkey (29.4)

Caleb tried his best against the division rival Lions. He completed 26 out of 40 passes for 334 yards and two touchdowns. There are glimpses of a good QB in there, but there’s no consistency whatsoever.

Ladd’s eight catches and 94 yards led the game. He also managed to get two touchdowns. It seems like Justin Herbert found his WR1.

2. Week 16: Brian Thomas Jr (28.2)

    Week 17: Jayden Daniels (32.8)

Nine catches for 132 yards and a touchdown got BTJ the number two spot for week 16.

The Washington Commanders needed every bit of Daniels’ 24/36, 227 yards, three touchdown performance. He also ran the ball 16 times for 127 yards. This performance broke the rookie quarterback season rushing record, giving Daniels 864 yards for the season with one more game to go.

1. Week 16: Jayden Daniels (36.4)

    Week 17: Malik Nabers (36.1)

If you have five touchdowns, you’re probably going to be the player of the week. Daniels also had 258 yards passing and 81 yards rushing on top of that. What a week!

The Giants REALLY didn’t want to go 0-9 in New York. Drew Locke played out of his mind to keep them from being defeated at home for the season. Nabers caught seven passes for 171 yards and two touchdowns.

After not believing in Brock Bowers at the start of the season, he has to go and break two different rookie records in week 17. First, Bowers passed Mike Ditka for the most receiving yards by a rookie in a season with 1144 yards (and a week to go). Then, he beat friend of the column Puka Nacua to have the most receptions by a rookie at 108 (again, with a week to add to the total). Pretty crazy stuff. Congratulations, Brock!

Most fantasy championships have already been played at this point. If you won, let me know! I’d like to pretend I was integral to a winning team after all of mine were garbage.

Love,
