Week 17 Fantasy Football Streamers: QB, TE and Team Defense

Before diving into Week 17’s quarterback, tight end and team defense streamers, let’s see how Week 16’s streamers did for your fantasy football lineups (Yahoo! scoring; 0.5-point PPR).

Quarterback: Baker Mayfield-19.82 points
Tight End: Hunter Henry-DNP
Team Defense: Green Bay Packers

Week 17 is the final week in many fantasy football leagues, with a championship final, a third-place game or a consolation bracket possibly keeping many managers engaged right to the end.

Here are Week 17’s quarterback, tight end and team defense streamers.

Quarterback: Derek Carr, New Orleans Saints at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

It was not pretty, as usual, but Carr went 27-for-40 for 319 yards with three touchdowns and an interception last Thursday night against the Los Angeles Rams. He has multiple passing touchdowns in three straight games, and in five of the last six games he has finished healthy (304 yards in the lone exception).

Week 17 brings a nice matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who are allowing the ninth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season (Yahoo! scoring). More narrowly, Tampa Bay has the league’s worst pass defense by yardage allowed.

Carr is a quarterback you ideally don’t have to watch play, while just reaping the fantasy benefits of a good box score if you need it. A nice matchup in Week 17 lines him up to help a lot of fantasy owners in the most important of weeks.

Others To Consider: Joe Flacco, Cleveland Browns vs. New York Jets (Thursday night), Jake Browning, Cincinnati Bengals at Kansas City Chiefs; Nick Mullens, Minnesota Vikings vs. Green Bay Packers (Sunday night); Gardner Minshew, Indianapolis Colts vs. Las Vegas Raiders

Tight end: Chigoziem Okonkwo, Tennessee Titans at Houston Texans

Okonkwo had six catches (on six targets) for 63 yards and a touchdown in Week 16 against the Seattle Seahawks. He has at least six targets in three of his last four games, with at least 8.5 full PPR points in four of his last five.

The one exception to both of those aforementioned streaks came in Week 15 against the Houston Texans (three catches for 36 yards), but Okonkwo gets another shot at a great matchup in Week 17. The Texans are allowing the fifth-most fantasy points to tight ends (Yahoo! scoring, 0.5-point PPR), with the most receptions (100) and targets (134) allowed to the position.

Okonkwo carries some downside based on what he did (or didn’t do) against the Texans in the first matchup. But he’s a nice streaming option for anyone with a need at tight end in Week 17, and it doesn’t really matter who’s under center for the Titans.

Others To Consider: Gerald Everett, Los Angeles Chargers at Denver Broncos; Juwan Johnson, New Orleans Saints at Tampa Bay Buccaneers; Tucker Kraft, Green Bay Packers at Minnesota Vikings (Sunday night); Hunter Henry, New England Patriots at Buffalo Bills (check injury status); Cade Otton, Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. New Orleans Saints; Logan Thomas, Washington Commanders vs. San Francisco 49ers; Tanner Hudson, Cincinnati Bengals at Kansas City Chiefs

Team Defense: Los Angeles Rams at New York Giants

Two fourth quarter touchdowns made things look worse (22 points allowed), but for most of Week 16 the Rams held the New Orleans Saints in check. They have allowed 20 or less points in four of their last six games, and they’ve had multiple sacks and/or takeaways in all but one game all season. A nice matchup is coming in Week 17.

The New York Giants had a cleaner game against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 16 (one turnover, one sack allowed), but they still only scored 19 offensive points. Tommy DeVito was benched in favor of Tyrod Taylor at halftime, and who will start under center moving forward is unclear.

There are some good options, but the Rams are the top streaming defense for Week 17.
