What Top 12 WR Will Let You Down in 2021?
I asked the GoingFor2 writers, “What Top 12 wide receiver will let you down in 2021.” I got some surprising answers, but before we get to those answers, let me first define what we are using to come up with our Top 12. We are using the FantasyPros ECR for 2021 redraft. Now those rankings may change by the time you read this, but as of April 6th, 2021, all of these guys had an ADP in the Top 12. I linked all of their Twitter handles, so feel free to tell them how much you disagree with them, they will appreciate it.
Allen Robinson
Robinson easily has one of the worst QB situations of all the WRs in the top 12. Dalton had an arsenal of weapons in Dallas last season and was unable to provide reliability to any of the receiving options. –@socratictheory
I hate to echo what @socratictheory has already spoken, but Robinson will finish outside of the Top 20 in 2021. Dalton is not much of an upgrade from Trubisky. Robinson has 1,250 yards on 151 targets in 2020, but I fully expect the Bears to bring in young talent in the draft to compete with him.
They also should build around what Dalton can do — short passes to Kmet and Montgomery. Robinson should have fought harder to get out of Chicago as he still has mileage to burn on the field, but Chicago is not the place for him. We saw his frustrations last year, and these will continue into 2021. I see Darnell Mooney stepping up and surprising us in Chicago, not Robinson. – @luvtractor3
Michael Thomas
Hill or Winston, yea hard pass on those unproven and inconsistent two. MT is currently going around the WR10 area and I can think of at least 12 WRs going later that I would draft over him 100% of the time. – @dropthemikeFF
Maybe I’m crazy for saying this but time will tell. Thomas has had his share of off the field issues and things seemed weird last year for the Saints and Thomas. We can assume he will be healthier in 2021, but I’m not sold he’s a WR1.
The departure of Sanders isn’t going to affect Thomas as it will for Smith, Callaway, and Harris. The QB position will be the key here for MT. With Hill behind center, I don’t think there’s tons of upside for anyone. Winston, in my opinion, will be the starter come September.
Even with the gunslinger, Thomas will be heavily covered at all times, which leads to less production. I think with Brees retiring, this is just the beginning of the offensive decline in New Orleans. – @TheCommishFF
Justin Jefferson
Everyone will be drafting him based on last year’s numbers. It will be hard to repeat that kind of production again as the true No. 1. – @EagleDanFF
AJ Brown
Trust me, I know this is a bold take, but hear me out. With losing Jonnu Smith and Corey Davis, teams will be able to double or possibly triple team Brown. Lets face it, who else poses a threat vertically on the Titans offense?
Throw in that most other WR1s on this list will see a much greater volume of targets over the course of the season due to the Titan’s run-first attack with Derrick Henry. When you add these two things together you have a high potential for a bust. – @DevinDeal
Terry McLaurin
I’ve seen “start QB Ryan Fitzpatrick”, it does not end well. A potentially unsettled QB room along with a big FA signing in Curtis Samuel to create the potential for a crowded target share along with Logan Thomas and JD McKissic’s backfield role. McLaurin could go from the only show in town to sharing the load and as a result a decrease in opportunity. – @4WhomJBellTolls

Keenan Allen is a PPR monster year in year out — when healthy. Are you buying or selling a 3-to-4th round pick with him in standard leagues? – @TheYetiExpress
