Critic Consensus: "Be True" is loaded with the family dynamics that makes Empire such a juicy drama, including a memorable baptism scene and a shocking cliffhanger.

Critic reviews for Be True
It's not that Empire hasn't had good moments in Season 2, but the appropriately named "Be True" is the first time the show has really felt like itself.

Empire's writers helpfully introduced this new group of antagonists to extort and terrorize Lyon Dynasty right at the moment when it doesn't seem like the First Family of Hip-Hop/Duplicity could hate each other more.

The actual ending... had me gasping and yelling. I won't spoil it, but I will say that this is the first time Empire has had me wishing for the next episode to air immediately.

Season two of Empire is all about extremely awkward Lyon family gatherings, and episode five doesn't disappoint.

Director Kevin Bray shot Lucious's entrance like it was a horror film, with Satan showing up at a church to raise some literal hell.

This episode was flipping tremendous.
