2020 XFL Fantasy Mock Draft 1.0

First Round

1.01 RB Jhurell Pressley (DC)

The AAF’s leading rusher before the league folded joins a stacked DC roster with, in my opinion, two to the best skill position options with their top wide-out also in my top 5 overall.

1.02 RB Christine Michael (DAL)

Micheal’s much-hyped short-lived NFL career has many excited about him again. Michael was always an NFL preseason super-star, but it never translated to the regular season. Maybe he finds his niche in the XFL?

1.03 QB Cardale Jones (DC)

The Defenders have a loaded roster — at least on paper. I have their top RB and top WR in my top 5 overall, and their QB Jones is my top overall QB. For those that play regular fantasy football, you might wonder why a QB is going so high — the XFL only has eight teams, thus only eight starting QBs, you will need a good one to win games in fantasy XFL.

1.04 RB Kenneth Farrow (SEA)

Farrow was third in rushing in the AAF and he isn’t bad catching passes out of the backfield.

1.05 WR Rashad Ross (DC)

My WR1 rounds out my top 5 and is the third Defender drafted. Ross was second in receiving yards and receptions in the AAF. He was also tied for third in “market share” with 24 percent of the wide receiver production on his team.

1.06 WR Mekale McKay (NY)

McKay was a big-play threat and a top red-zone option in the AAF. McKay was tied for the most red-zone targets (12) with the AAF’s leading receiver Charles Johnson despite having less than half the amount of receptions (22 v 45). He was also third in average depth of targets (aDOT), highlighting his big-play ability.

1.07 QB PJ Walker (HOU)

Walker beat out Connor Cook for the starting spot and with Houston running a version of the Air Raid offense, Walker should get plenty of opportunities to put up points.

1.08 RB De’Veon Smith (TB)

Smith was sixth in rushing in the AAF despite splitting the workload nearly in half with D’Ernest Johnson.

2.01 QB Matt McGloin (NY)

The third QB off the board is former NFL quarterback Matt McGloin. He has one of the better receiving options in MeKale McKay and the Guardians are projected to be one of the better teams in the XFL, which will mean more scoring opportunities.

2.02 RB De’Angelo Henderson (HOU)

Henderson’s teammate Andre Williams is the projected starter, but it’s Henderson’s pass-catching ability that gives him more fantasy value.

2.03 WR Sammie Coates (HOU)

The case can be made for Coates to be a first-round pick, and he may go in the first in a lot of drafts, but his hands were an issue in the NFL and the will continue to be in the XFL. Coates’ biggest strength is his speed and in a league like the XFL, speed kills.

2.04 WR Jazz Ferguson (DAL)

Ferguson is another receiver I could see going in the first and the Dallas Renegades are the favorite to win it all. For that to happen, Ferguson is going to need to be dominant.

2.05 WR Seantavius Jones (TB)

The injury to wide receiver Antonio Callaway opens the door for Jones to claim the No. 1 receiving duties.

2.06 RB Tim Cook (NY)

Cook averaged 4.9 yards per attempt in the AAF and was tied for seventh in rushing TDs despite fewer carries than every player above him.

2.07 QB Jordan Ta’amu (STL)

Ta’amu beat out Taylor Heinke for the starting QB job. The Battlehawks have one of the best running back tandems in the league with Cristine Michael and Matt Jones, which should lead to loaded boxes and one-on-one matchups on his receivers.

2.08 TE Nick Truesdell (TB)

Truesdell led all tight ends in receptions and touchdowns in the AFF and position scarcity puts Truedell squarely in the second round, if not higher.
