Fantasy Football: TNF Sit/Start Week 10

What’s up everyone, Geoff here. Matt was unable to finish up his Sit/Start for TNF, so I’m filling in for him this week. We have a division rivalry tonight with the Buffalo Bills @ the New York Jets, and there are plenty of fantasy implications in this one. These picks for the Sit/Start are 100% Matt’s, I’m just filling in the blurbs for each player, let’s get to it…

New York Jets

START

Brandon Marshall-WR

Marshall has been a target monster so far this season and should continue that trend in tonight’s game. The Bills are not very good against opposing wide receivers, giving up the 10th most fantasy points through Week 9. Expect him to get 8-10 targets, catching at least half of those targets and at least one score.

Eric Decker-WR

On the other side of Marshall is Decker, another player that has gotten a ton of targets this season. It’s hard to believe that Jets have two wide receivers that are fantasy relevant this season, but that is the case. Both Marshall and Decker should be started in all leagues, and I expect both of them to put up WR2 type numbers tonight.

SIT

Chris Ivory-RB

With all the injuries and underachievers  at the running back position this year, you may be forced to start Ivory this week, but I would temper your expectations. Ivory hasn’t been great over the past three games, averaging less than two yards per carry, and not faces a Bills defense that ranks sixth versus the run. If you have any better options this week for Ivory then I would bench him, but he is nothing more than a flex for me this week.

Buffalo Bills

Start

Chris Hogan-WR

Hogan will get the “wide receiver not covered by Darrelle Revis” treatment in this game as I expect Revis to be on Watkins. The No. 2 wide receivers against the Jets this year have had success with Allen Hurns going for 5/122/1 last week and Michael Crabtree getting 7/102/1 the week previous. Both those receiver are better talents than Hogan, but he should still have a good game.

Charles Clay-TE

Clay has been in a bit of a slump over the last few weeks, but I expect him to come out in a big way tonight. The Jets are actually good against opposing tight ends, but with Revis locking up Sammy Watkins both Clay and Chris Hogan will absorb a few more targets.

SIT

Tyrod Taylor-QB

Taylor has been a QB1 all season, and chances are you may not have a better option, but the Jets are very good against opposing quarterbacks and could force Taylor into some bad decisions. I think the only way Taylor has a good game tonight in terms of fantasy points, it will be with his legs. If you have another good quarterback with a better matchup this week you may want to keep Taylor on your bench this week.

LeSean McCoy-RB

The Jets are a top 2 defense against the run and Karlos Williams may steal some carries from McCoy. As I mentioned with Chris Ivory, chances are you will have to start him based on the shallow nature of the running back position, but if you have the luxury of multiple good running backs you may want to think about leaving McCoy on your bench.

Sammy Watkins-WR

Watkins is coming off a career day with 168 yards and a touchdown, but I wouldn’t be expecting a repeat performance. That was more of the exception than the rule as Watkins will still be playing hurt and will face a lot of Revis island tonight. If you’re a Watkins owner you should be used to looking elsewhere at wide receiver this year since he has missed so many games with an injury, so I would try to look elsewhere again this week.
