Free MLB DFS DraftKings Lineup Help and Advice 4/11/16

Start your week off right with free daily fantasy advice from your pals @TopShelfDFS! Took Sunday off, but here’s a look at our cash lines from Saturday. It goes without saying, but if you’re new to MLB daily fantasy and you’re playing cash games, just put $50-$100(or whatever your bankroll may be) in $1 and $2  50/50s or H2Hs instead of just playing a few $20 cash games, obviously it’s much easier to cash in the low ? ? ? cash games than the $20, $50, $100 contests.

Pitching

Sonny Gray $9,600 vs. LAA

Even with Mike Trout and Albert Pujols, the Angels still have the worst offense in all of baseball right now, averaging just 1.80 runs/game so far this year. This actually doesn’t come as much of a surprise, the Angels don’t have a lot of firepower on offense, and it’s really hard for them to string a lot of hits together to produce runs. Sonny Gray has had excellent success against the Angels in his career, as L.A. hitters are a combined 26 for 122 against him with just a .258 on-base-percentage. The one knock on Gray is that he doesn’t accumulate a ton of strikeouts, but he does have a career 29% K % in his career against the Angels.

Max Scherzer $13,100 vs. ATL

mlb sleepers 4/4For those of you playing on FanDuel, it’s really hard to fade Scherzer tonight at just $11,600 against the Braves’ abysmal offense. It’s hard to feel confident about any of the lower tier pitchers tomorrow(Colby Lewis, Cozart, Bud Norris, even McHugh against KC’s lefties). Scherzer has had a lot of success against Atlanta in his career, as Braves’ hitters are hitting just .214 lifetime against him and Scherzer’s given up just 6 home runs in 226 at-bats to Atlanta batters. Scherzer’s $13,100 price tag leaves little to be desired, but he’s an extremely safe bet for 30+ points in cash games.

Sneaky GPP Play: Nick Tropeano

Hitting

Robinson Cano $4,200 vs. TEX

As a rule of thumb, it’s best to target righty v. lefty matchups when making your lineups. Cano has been on ? ? ? this season, as he’s hit 4 home runs through his first 5 games on the young season, one of them coming against Colby Lewis last Tuesday, in a 9-5 win against the Rangers. Cano is batting .381 off of Lewis in his tenured career, and his price tag of $4,200 makes him just the 5th most expensive 2nd baseman on the slate tonight. Cano is averaging 14.1 FPP on the season

Kyle Seager $4,200 vs. TEX

The Mariners have made for an excellent stack several times this season, scoring 10 and 9 runs in back-to-back games this year and who did they come against? The Texas Rangers. Seager is a lifetime 10 for 29 against Lewis with two home runs, and what really makes this an excellent stack is that the Ranger’s bullpen is simply put…terrible. Even if Lewis does manage to have a decent outing today, the bullpen cannot seem to get guys out and they’ve been giving up a ton of runs. Definitely targeting Seattle lefties against Lewis today for cash games.

Billy Hamilton $4,000 @ CHCmlb sleepers

It’s no secret that Jon Lester is probably the worst pitcher in baseball when it comes to holding runners on. Base stealers circle the date they face Lester on their calendars because they know there will be plenty of opportunities to steal bases and show off their speed. Hamilton managed to steal 57 bases last season in only 114 games, and was only caught 8 times. This matchup just hinges on where Hamilton bats in the order tonight. If he hits leadoff today and sees increased at-bats, there’s no doubt he’ll be off and running(stole 5 bases in a game against the Cubs last year and 3 in another one later in the year against…the Cubs)

Rougned Odor $3,600 @ SEA

It’s been a rough start to the season for Odor, as he’s batting just .130 with just 1 home run, but nothing gets a player out of a slump quite like facing a pitcher that one’s had past success against. He is 6 for 11 off of Iwakuma in his career, and Odor is a rare breed of player that can hit for power and steal bases, so he can get fantasy points in multiple ways, unlike a Chris Davis, whose fantasy value is just limited to home runs and extra base hits.

Bryce Harper $4,900 vs. ATL

mlb sleepers 4/11

Harper has an excellent matchup tonight taking on righty Bud Norris of the Atlanta Braves. Harper crushed right-handed pitching last year, hitting 35 of his 41 home runs off of righties with an incredible 1.160 OPS. As a team, the Nationals have had a lot of success against Norris in his career, particularly the middle of the order, Harper, Zimmerman(3 career Home runs in 16 at bats), and Daniel Murphy, so a Nationals stack could be excellent for GPP tonight. A Washington stack will no doubt be low owned, as the Nationals have scored the 4th fewest runs in the Majors up to this point in the season.
