MLB DFS Lineup Advice for Draftkings and Fanduel – 4/20/16
//
Wednesdays usually give us a split slate between the afternoon and the evening, but today we get a mostly full slate of 11 games at night with a small 4 game afternoon slate.
Any day that you play daily fantasy, especially baseball, your research should start with the Vegas lines. First, let’s look at the game lines. There are two games with a total of 9 runs, the highest total on the board, Houston v. Texas and Toronto v. Baltimore. That’s not surprising as these are four of the top offenses in baseball and both games are in hitters parks. Just as with yesterday, these are games to target for hitters. You can further look at specific team totals to hone in on what offenses to target. Unsurprisingly, the game with the lowest total of 6.5 faces Madison Bumgarner and Zack Greinke. The Cubs-Cards and Angels-White Sox games also have totals of just 7, feature other pitchers that make good targets as well. Now, let’s dg into the day’s top plays…
Top Pitchers
Madison Bumgarner (DK – $11,400, FD – $10,800) – MadBum has had an unenviable schedule to start the season with two matchups against Clayton Kershaw, along with a matchup against the Brewers. He gets a home matchup this time in pitcher friendly AT&T Park, but this time against Zack Greinke. Nevertheless, MadBum is the top option on the slate due to his elite strikeout ability. He has 21 Ks on the year through 16 innings and had a 3.02 SIERA and 26.9% strikeout rate last year. The D-backs struck out at an above average clip last year against lefties at 21.3%. Bumgarner should get back to his dominant self in this outing. He’s the top option in both cash games and GPPs.
Drew Pomeranz (DK – $6,300, FD – $6,200) – Through two starts Pomeranz ha 15 Ks in 11 innings and allowed only two runs in each outing, totaling more than 20 DK points both times. One start which was at Coors. He had a 3.73 SIRA and 23% strikeout rate last year pitching in the American League. Those numbers are much better than a $6K pitcher and thus he offer great value at this price in GPPs.
Top Hitters
Mark Teixeira (DK – $4,400, FD – $3,400) – Anytime Teixeira faces a weak righty at Yankee Stadium, he’s a terrific option. He posted a 3.99 wOBA and ridiculous .339 ISO last year against RHP and faces thr A’s Kendal Graveman and his career 4.28 SIERA and measly 15.6% strikeout rate. The Yankees lefties are in play hear and Teixeria should lead the way.
Michael Conforto (DK – $3,400, FD – $2,800) – Conforto has found his way to the top of the Mets’ lineup and the team has started to hit. It might be a coincidence, but it might not. Either way, Conforto likely isn’t moving back down in the order. Hre has 7 hit in his last 5 games, 2 of which are HRs and 2 doubles. With a matchup against the Phillies Jeremy Hellickson, he shouldn’t slow down at all in this one.
Nomar Mazara (DK – $3,200, FD – $3,100) – Like Conforto, Mazara continues to hit second for a red hot offense and continues to produce, yet his price hasn’t budged. He gets the platoon advantage again in this one against a weak righty in Fister, making him a great value play in the OF.
