Fantasy Football: Waiver Wire Steals Week 1

Week one of the NFL is officially underway and there are already a few big names that got hurt.  Or perhaps you have some players that just aren’t living to exceptions.  In a small league (8-10 teams) you can easily find some great players just waiting.  Larger leagues (12 and up) you might have to not only be patient but also lucky to get the diamond in the rough.  Lets take a look at some players that you might have over looked in the draft that can help boost your team.

Top Waiver Wire Adds for Week 1

NoHalftime Waiver Add of the Week: QB Alex Smith (Kansas City Chiefs)

On NFL, Alex Smith was largely overlooked in the draft, only being owned by 36.7% of all players.  Smith just showed us why his team went 11-o to finish last season, posting one of his best games ever.  That was with out RB Jamaal Charles.  Smith put up 363 yards, 2 passing touchdowns and 1 rushing touchdown.  Even more impressive, no turn overs.  He was in PPR leagues the 4th highest scoring QB.  With QB’s Robert Griffin III out and Russell Wilson hurt, Smith is worthy of a spot on your bench.

Some others QB’s to look at-

Matthew Stafford – Lions – 40% owned

Carson Wentz – Eagles – 2% owned

Wide Receiver Will Fuller (Houston)

WR Fuller made a great showing with new QB Brock Owseiler, going for 107 yards and a touchdown.  He looks to become a favorite target, pulling some looks away from WR DeAndre Hopkins.  Keep in Hopkins in mind when starting Fuller, but it looks like Owseiler is going to pass that ball around.  According to NFL, he is owned by only 9.1% of players.  He will fill in quite nicely if your looking to replace WR Keenen Allen from the chargers, who is most likely out for the season.

Some other WR’s to look at are

Mohamed Sanu – Falcons – 47% owned

Tajae Sharpe – Titans – 8% owned

Nelson Agholor – Eagles – 32.9% owned

RB Tevin Coleman (Falcons)

RB Coleman saw more time on the field then some expected.  He took a few carries away from RB Devonta Freeman, but also saw alot of work catching the ball.  He broke 100 yards combined and looks like he could do it again.  He is worth grabbing before some one else does!  He is owned by 43.2% of all players

A couple of RB’s

Theo Riddick – Lions – 34%

Charles Sims– Buccaneers – 52%

TE Virgil Green (Denver Broncos)

TE Green might not have produced a lot of points in the win of the Panthers, but he came in at key moment for new QB Trevor Siemian.  After being a blocking TE for a couple years, he is finally in a position to be a catching tight end.  He should be a good security blanket for Siemian, drawing volume as the untested QB gets more and more comfortable playing in the NFL.  He is owned by less then 3% in the NFL leagues, but by the end of the year, that number will grow greatly.

And some more choices for your consideration

Kyle Rudolph – Vikings – 6.4%

Jacob Tamme – Falcons – 0.6%
