NFL DFS FanDuel Value Plays – Week 2

What’s up, GF2 fans! This season I’ll be covering the NFL DFS FanDuel value plays for you guys and I couldn’t be more excited. When constructing a successful DFS lineup, you always have to make sure that the right value guys are in your lineups. We’ve now got Week 1 behind, so business is about to pick up. There will be plenty of value to be found for this slate, starting with Thursday night’s game between the Bills and Jets.

NFL DFS FanDuel Value Plays for Week 2

Quarterbacks

Joe Flacco (BAL) @ CLE $7,400

Did you guys see what Carson Wentz did against this same defense in Week 1? Well, just in case you missed it, the rookie absolutely demolished their secondary in route to a big day. I’m expecting a similar game from Flacco, who has proved in the past that he can throw for a ton of yards. Week 1, he was fairly efficient against a much better defense in Buffalo, throwing for 258 yards and a TD. He only scored his owners 12.02 FanDuel points but should vastly improve on that number for Week 2. He’ll be in a ton of my lineups this week!

Carson Wentz (PHI) @ CHI $6,900

I’m going to start by saying that I’m not a believer in this Philly offense but I can’t deny this matchup. I feel like after this week they’ll quickly be brought back to reality, so we should take advantage of it now! For his Week 1 game against the Browns, Wentz dominated, scoring an impressive 19.22 FanDuel points. He threw for a solid 278 yards and two scores for the Eagles. Now, Wentz draws a matchup against an equally atrocious Chicago secondary that Brock Osweiler had his way with last week.

Running Backs

Danny Woodhead (SD) vs. JAC $6,400

There are a couple of key players that will prosper once again in Keenan Allen’s absence, starting with one of my favorite running backs. Last week, Woodhead not only led the team in carries with 16 but also ran for 89 yards. Those 89 yards were the most by any Chargers running back since Week 7 of the 2015 season. Woodhead also caught a splendid five receptions and scored a TD, which led to a 20.5 FanDuel point day. This week, he’ll face off against a mediocre Jacksonville defense that just doesn’t scare me whatsoever.

Theo Riddick (DET) vs. TEN $5,900

If you haven’t noticed by now, the pass-catching running backs are my favorite. Yes, the Titans shut down Adrian Peterson last week but that’s because they were stacking the box against an awful quarterback. This week, Tennessee has a much tougher test against the gun-slinging Matthew Stafford, who loves Riddick. For Week 1, Riddick was able to reel in seven catches for 45 yards and a score. He also ran for 63 yards and a touchdown in route to a beautiful 23.5 FanDuel point day. All in all, he should be in store for another heavy workload this week.

Wide Receivers

DailyFantasyNerd FanDuel Value Play of the Day

Jordan Matthews (PHI) @ CHI $6,900

Matthews is without a doubt one of my favorite plays for this week against a terrible Bears’ secondary. It seems as if Wentz and he have a solid chemistry and they’ll be able to take advantage of this tasty matchup. For Week 1, Matthews was targeted an enormous 14 times with a seven catch, 114 yards and one TD stat line. Both DeAndre Hopkins and Will Fuller were able to have big days against Chicago last week, so I expect the same for Matthews in Week 2.

Sterling Shepard (NYG) vs. NO $6,200

The New York rookie wideout was one of my favorite value plays for last week and is a go-to option once again against the Saints. New Orleans has one of the worst defenses around and gave up a ton of yards to the Raiders last week. In my opinion, the Giants are an even better offense than Oakland, so this game should be fun! Shepard did have a little trouble seeing enough targets last week but Dallas controlled the clock for the majority of the game. He did end up scoring us all a big touchdown, so he didn’t disappoint in his first career game.

Tight Ends

Gary Barnidge (CLE) vs. BAL $6,000

I know, I know this guy burned a lot of bad for Week 1 from both a seasonal and DFS standpoint but hear me out. It’s obvious that Josh McCown just meshes better with Barnidge within this Browns offense, so I’m actually excited to see what he does this week. Yes, he put up a nice goose egg last week but it can’t get worse, right? I’m expecting with McCown back, Barnidge will be back to his touchdown scoring ways in no time.

Brent Celek (PHI) @ CHI $4,800

If you guys are looking to scrape extra deep in the value bin, I may just have the guy for you! With Zach Ertz already on the injured list, Celek should see a nice bump in action this week. I’m going to stick with my motto of using these Philly guys against an ultra weak Chicago defense. I’m expecting Celek to be rather low owned, making him an extra sneaky GPP play for Week 2.

Defense

Jets @ Bills $4,700

I really swung and missed last week picking the Rams against the 49ers, so I’ve got to make it up to you guys. Thursday night games are almost always a defensive struggle and an AFC East matchup could be just what the doctor ordered. Remember back to Week 1 where the Jets sacked Andy Dalton a massive seven times. I’m expecting even more of that this week against Tyrod Taylor. Plus, it’s looking more and more every day like Sammy Watkins could be somewhat limited going forward, making New York a nice play.

Ravens @ Browns $4,500

I’m liking the AFC divisional games from a defensive standpoint for this slate. Yes, I like Barnidge for this slate but I do think that Baltimore will still produce some turnovers against McCown. The Ravens did an excellent job limiting Taylor and the Bills during Week 1, so this just mighy be a cake walk for them, right?
