Five Fantasy Sleepers For Week 2
5: Bryce Treggs WR Philadelphia Eagles
Treggs is just flat out fast. He displays the type of speed of a young Desean Jackson type receiver. Ironically he also played his college ball at the same school as Jackson (Cal), and even wore the same number that Jackson wore. (No. 1) Treggs may never become the star that Jackson is but he adds excellent speed that the Eagles will take advantage of at some point. Why not against a poor Bears defense? I wouldn’t be too surprised if he has over a hundred yards and a score on Monday Night. He had a great preseason for the 49ers who cut him with the hopes of adding him to their practice squad before being plucked away by Philadelphia. The Eagles had been high on him pre-draft for one simple reason: speed. He runs a 4.39 40. While he’s still learning the playbook, look for him to be targeted 2 to 3 times against the Bears. Carson Wentz’s impressive arm strength will make it tempting enough.
4: Isiah Crowell RB Cleveland Browns
With RG3 out once again, the Browns will lean on their running game a little bit more than usual. Josh Mccown does not have the arm strength or mobility that RG3 brings to the table. While I’m Impressed with rookie receiver Corey Coleman, and Tyrell Pryor as deep threats, I have very little faith in their intermediate passing game. They will be running the football, and Crowell is still a very talented back. He should have close to 100 yards rushing and at least one score. They may be playing against a good Baltimore defense, but that doesn’t change anything. Bold prediction: The Browns Win 9 to 7.
3: Trey Burton: TE Philadelphia Eagles
Carson Wentz has plenty of weapons at his disposal. That being said The Eagles use a lot of two Tight End sets. With Ertz out for a week and veteran Brent Celek aging look for Burton to get a lot of looks. Wentz may be something special. Time will tell. He looks like the real deal at the moment. That being said he is still a rookie, and will need a reliable TE to step up as a safety Valve. Trey Burton had a good preseason, is very athletic, and displays very good hands. He could go over a hundred with a score. That wouldn’t surprise me at all. The Eagles are very high on the Third year pro who is likely to replace Celek at some point as the Eagle no. 2 TE.
2: Sam Bradford QB Minnesota Vikings
It may only last one week, but the Vikings didn’t give up a first rd. pick and more to sit Sammy sleeves. He’s going up against an average Packers secondary with a ton of weapons around him. If he can somehow eliminate the big mistakes he’s known for then give me 300 plus yards passing with a 65 percent completion percentage and 3 TD passes in a Vikings loss. I do think he is bound to get hurt or replaced by Shaun Hill at some point during the season. If he somehow stays healthy or plays decent football all season long I will eat a strawberry, and will need to be hospitalized according to Tom Brady. It’s a strawberry I will not have to eat.
1: Marcus Mariota QB Tennessee Titans.
The Lions defense gave up 385 passing yards last week against the Colts in a game they still won. The Colts are obviously much better than the Titans, however, that Lions Secondary is by far their weakest spot on their defense. Marcus Mariota is a talented QB whos simply on a bad team. I see him throwing for at least 335 yards, and 3 Tds in a loss. The Titans do have to win a game sometime. This could be a trap game for the Lions. I think Detroit pulls it out. It will be far closer than anyone expected. Side note: Demarco Murray is ok, but they should really get Derrick Henry going.
