The NFL DFS Value Vault for Week 3, Sunday 9/25

Every week, I’ll be presenting some of the best value plays of the week, for both Fanduel and DraftKings. If you’re going to enter a successful lineup, you’re going to need some good, lower priced players to offset the salaries of some of the high-priced studs, who get you the big numbers. I wouldn’t go completely overboard with these players, but one or two, sprinkled through your lineups, will make your salary money stretch a lot further.

There were a lot of injuries at the RB position in Week 2, so they’ll be some low priced RBs this week, but remember, just because a player is cheap, does not make him a value play. In situations like Carolina or Minnesota, where we don’t know how the carries will be distributed, it’s best to fade it.

QB Brian Hoyer (FD $6,000 /DK $5,000) Hoyer is an experienced NFL QB, who is getting a start due to Jay Cutler‘s thumb injury. He’ll go against a Dallas defense ranked 17th versus the pass. The game features a fairly decent O/U of 44.5, placing the Bears at 7 point underdogs. I prefer to pay up for QBs this week, but Hoyer is a decent tournament option.

RB Frank Gore (FD $5,700 /DK $5,000) Gore is one of my favorite targets this week. The game features a 52 point O/U, with the Colts installed at 4.5 point favorites. The Chargers were ranked 31st against the run last season by Football Outsiders before being ranked 32nd this season. Gore has also been targeted 9 times this season in the passing game.

RB Charles Sims (FD $6,300 /DK $4,900) This is a DK special and should only be used if starter Doug Martin sits out, which I expect. Tampa Bay is a 4 point favorite in this game, although the O/U has been set at a mere 42 points. Sims is a tournament (GPP) play on DraftKings only against a good but not great Rams run defense.

RB Dexter McCluster (FD $4,500 /DK N/A) McCluster is one of my favorite value GPP plays on FanDuel this week. Signed on Tuesday, McCluster was somehow still on the FD database. He played under San Diego coach’s Ken Wisenhunt’s Titans offense when Ken was the OC there, and should slide into the Danny Woodhead roll. The game has a 52 O/U with SD a 4.5 underdog, meaning game flow should work out perfectly for the passing RB to have a big game.

WR Quincy Enunwa (FD $6,000 / DK $4,800) OK, which Jets receiver is leading the team in receiving yards? If you said Enunwa, you were correct. While I don’t expect this to last all season, it may very well last another week. Both Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker are battling injuries, Enunwa has the potential to again lead the Jets in receiving. If either Decker or Marshall sits out, Enunwa becomes a even better play.

WR Cole Beasley (FD $5,100 / DK $3,200) How many minimum priced receivers have been targeted 18 times in the first two season games? One. Cole Beasley seems to be QB Dak Prescott‘s favorite target, especially over the middle. Dak and Beasley haven’t connected on a TD yet, but with a 19th ranked Bears pass defense, that TD might be coming soon.

TE  Jacob Tamme (FD $5,500 /DK $3,200) Both of the Falcons starting WRs, Mohamed Sanu and Julio Jones have been battling injury and have been at less than 100%. Matt Ryan has turned to Jacob Tamme, targeting the veteran 16 times and Tamme has responded with 11 catches for 126 and a TD on the season. This game has a 54 point O/U and New Orleans pass defense is ranked 26th by Football Outsiders

DEF 49ers (FD $4,000 / DK $2,400) I normally don’t mention defenses in this article, but I’m making an exception here. Seattle has scored a grand total of 15 points in their two games this season and several skill position players, to include Russell Wilson and Doug Baldwin are battling injuries and will be at less than 100%. The 49ers defense is averaging 11.5 FD points per game on the season.
