2016 Fantasy Football: Week 7 Sit/Start
Make sure you start the right guys, and that starts by checking out my sit and start recommendations. If you are one of the owners dealing with under performers or injuries and you need help figuring out who to start, I am here to help. If the guy you are stressing over is not on this list feel free to hit me up at @mikekelleydlp with any additional sit/start questions you might have. Or you can join my Facebook Group, Dynasty League Problems and be a part of the conversation. Good luck this week to everyone, unless I am playing in one of my leagues.
NoHalftime START of the Week:
RB DeMarco Murray (TEN)
Murray is on pace for a fine season. If he keeps up his current numbers he is looking at over 1800 total yards and 16 touchdowns. Not bad considering last years giant disaster with the Eagles. Helping him stay on pace this weekend he gets a crack at the Colts, who just helped Lamar Miller break out of a slump he was suffering through. The Colts might be trying to take the title of worst run defense away from the 49ers and trying to stop Murray this weekend just might help them get the title. Murray should go well over 100 yards and find the end zone at least one time against the Colts. Throw in a handful of reception for 30 or so yards and in PPR leagues Murray should easily top 20 points, and even in standard he could flirt with 20.
NoHalftime SIT of the Week:
QB Carson Wentz (PHI)
After a story book start to Wentz’s season things have came crashing back to Earth the last two weeks. It start two weeks ago when he had an okay game against the Lions. That game however, ended on his first interception of his career. Than last week against the Redskins he did not look good at all. No turnovers last week, which was good, but only completing 50 percent of his passes for 179 yards was not good. It does not get any better this week though as he faces off against the Vikings, who have been play lights out defense so far this year. I woudl be surprised if he goes over 225 yards this week, and his chances of throwing a touchdown are not very good either this week. Wentz should not be your number one quarterback and you should not be starting him this
week. If you number one is on bye hit free agency now and get a different quarterback for this week.
Quarterback
START Marcus Mariota (TEN)
One of the hottest quarterbacks in the NFL right now is Mariota. His yardage is not all that great, but he has thrown six touchdowns and ran for another in the last two weeks. This week he gets his division rival the Colts, who just helped make Brock Osweiler look good last Sunday night. With all his weapons finally healthy and a run game that is running over opponents Mariota has turned into a nice opportunist the last few weeks. I think he can throw for 275 plus yards and at least two touchdowns this week. I know those numbers are not that great, but throw in another 50 plus rushing yards and its like throwing another touchdown, and makes him a solid start this week.
Other STARTS:
- Blake Bortles (JAC)
- Brian Hoyer (CHI)
- Andy Dalton (CIN)
SIT Drew Brees (N.O.)
It is very common for players to perform better at home than on the road. Comforts of home have always been an advantage. For Brees those most be some of the best comforts known to man. At home Brees is averaging 421 passing yards, almost four touchdowns and one interception per game. Those are some pretty impressive numbers. On the road however Brees is averaging 235 passing yards and 1.5 touchdown and one interception. That is almost a 200 yard and 3 touchdown difference. That is insane. This week against the Chiefs I don’t see Brees going over 250 yards and one touchdown, and he will throw at least one interception.
Other SITS:
- Brock Osweiler (HOU)
- Carson Palmer (ARI)
Running Back
START Jacquizz Rodgers (T.B.)

The 49ers just might have the worst run defense in the NFL. It is so bad that I am putting a third string running that has never rushed for more than 362 yards in a whole season as my must start RB this week. With Chris Sims on IR I have said that Rodgers is a solid add because even with Martin playing well the Buccaneers were still using Sims enough to make him fantasy relevant. But that is not why he is here. He is here because yesterday the Bucs announced the Martin had suffered a setback with his hamstring making Rodgers the lead back this week, and any lead back going against the 49ers is worth a start right now.
Other STARTS:
- Lamar Miller (HOU)
- Devonta Freeman (ATL)
- Melvin Gordon (S.D.)
SIT Matt Forte (NYJ)
Since week two Matt Forte has been trending down. In fairness he has had a tough schedule and this week is no different. The Ravens run defense has been good this year at stopping running backs. Factor in that Bilal Powell has been playing better, which has led to Powell getting more touches each week. I don’t Forte was brought in to be a workhorse and with Jets constantly playing from behind it has been limiting Forte’s use the past few weeks. The Ravens should hold Forte to less than 50 yards on the ground and I don’t see him finding the end zone this week either.
Other SITS:
- Ryan Mathews (PHI)
- Christine Michael (SEA)
- C.J. Anderson (DEN)
Wide Receiver
START Mike Wallace (BAL)
The Jets secondary has stopped no one, to put thing bluntly. Marquise Goodwin went off for 112 yards and Sammie Coates put up 139 yards for example, and these guys are not exactly stars either. Not that I am saying Wallace is, but he certainly has a much larger track record of good games over the other two. Joe Flacco likes to throw deep, Wallace loves going deep, and as for the Jets, I guess they love running behind guys going deep. I don’t think Wallace is in for a large reception day, but I do see him racking up the yards. I am thinking four receptions for 120 yards and a touchdown.
Other STARTS:
- Mike Evans (T.B.)
- Allen Robinson (JAC)
- Michael Crabtree (OAK)
SIT John Brown (ARI)
Outside of Larry Fitzgerald the Cardinals wide receivers have been disappointments overall. Some would argue that they are more balanced now because of the running back David Johnson, others say it’s Carson Palmer regressing. I think it is more a result of Johnson’s and the fact that the receivers are just not play well. To compound the situation for Brown he has yet to be 100 percent this year. He started the season dealing with a concussion and now is fighting off a hamstring injury. Now throw in they are playing the Seahawks and I see no reason to run with Brown if you don’t have too. If brown can’t break a big play this week you might be looking at three receptions for around 25 yards. Too many things working against Brown this week to trust starting him.
Other SITS:
- Jordan Matthews (PHI)
- Tyler Lockett (SEA)
- Tavon Austin (L.A.)
Tight End
START C.J. Fiedorowicz (HOU)
Fiedorowicz is a guy that many people have considered a deep sleeper for sometime now, and he may have just finally woke up. In his last three games he has seen 20 targets and hauled in 14 of them for 194 yards and two touchdowns. He plays against a tough Denver defense this weekend, but it is the same defense that just got torched by Hunter Henry. I don’t see him doing as well as Henry mostly because Henry has a much better quarterback throwing him the ball, but five receptions for 60 yards with an outside shot at a touchdown does seem reasonable for me.
Other STARTS:
- Hunter Henry (S.D.)
- Julius Thomas (JAC)
- Kyle Rudolph (MIN)
SIT Jacob Tamme (ATL)
The first couple of weeks were pretty good for Tamme, but the last three weeks no so much. In those weeks his slash line is 5/19/1, that is 13 PPR points and 7.9 standard points in three weeks. He still has the ability to produce in spots, but predicting those spots will be very difficult. You should have no problem replacing those two to three points he has been producing. If you are lucky he might go three receptions for 30 yards this weekend.
Other SITS:
- Zach Ertz (PHI)
- Jesse James (PIT)
- Antonio Gates (S.D.)
Defense
START Buffalo Bills
The Bills are second in the NFL in sacks with 20, sixth in interceptions with six, and first in fumble recoveries with six and defensive touchdowns with three. This week the face off against the Miami Dolphins who are in the bottom half of the league in all of those categories including fantasy points allowed to opposing defenses.
Other STARTS:
- Cincinnati Bengals
- Baltimore Ravens
SIT Pittsburgh Steelers
No Big Ben and going up against Tom Brady. Not a good position to be in for the Steelers. I mean Brady is only averaging 391 yards and three touchdowns per game since coming back and Steelers did just get embarrassed by the Dolphins. Any way you look at it, it does not look good for the Steelers this week who are desperately trying to get to their bye week.
Other SITS:
- San Diego Chargers
- Atlanta Falcons
