Fantasy Football Week 17 Streamers: QB, TE, Team Defense

It’s Week 17, so most fantasy football leagues are over for this year. But there are leagues that extend into this week and there is something to play for, be it an outright league title, a consolation bracket pot or a daily contest.

So, for the final time in the 2016 season, here are your quarterback, tight end and team defense streamers.

Quarterback: Matt Barkley, Chicago Bears at Minnesota Vikings
Yahoo! Ownership: 5%

Barkley has thrown eight interceptions over the last two games, but he has topped 300 passing yards in both games with over 300 yards through the air in three of his five starts.

The Minnesota Vikings have been stingy against quarterbacks overall this season, but they have allowed six passing touchdowns and seven total touchdowns to the position over their last two games. Last week’s “miscommunication” about the game plan within the secondary, or whatever it should be called, is a bad sign heading into Week 17.

Multiple interceptions can’t be ruled out for Barkley in the regular season finale, but the upside of attempts (40 or more in three of five starts) and yardage make him a solid streaming option for Week 17.

Others To Consider: Blake Bortles, Jacksonville Jaguars, at Indianapolis Colts; E.J. Manuel, Buffalo Bills at New York Jets; Alex Smith, Kansas City Chiefs at San Diego Chargers; Sam Bradford, Minnesota Vikings vs. Chicago Bears; Paxton Lynch, Denver Broncos vs. Oakland Raiders (if he starts)

Tight End: Charles Clay, Buffalo Bills at New York Jets
Yahoo! Ownership: 18%

Clay has caught a touchdown in three straight games (four total), with 18 receptions (23 targets) for 209 yards over that span.

A favorable matchup is coming for Week 17, as the New York Jets are in the bottom-10 of the league against tight ends (8.9 points per game; ESPN scoring) with four touchdowns allowed to the position over their last two games. Way back in Week 2 against the Jets, Clay had five catches (on seven targets) for 27 yards.

The Bills will be going with E.J. Manuel as their starting quarterback on Sunday, but that’s not the detriment to Clay it may seem to be. In Manuel’s two 2015 starts, Clay was targeted 18 times and totaled 12 catches for 88 yards, highlighted by a nine-catch, 62 yard effort against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Target volume and touchdown upside makes Clay a great streaming tight end for Week 17. In what’s been a down year for the position, but Clay is good way to end.

Others To Consider:
Jared Cook, Green Bay Packers at Detroit Lions; Dennis Pitta, Baltimore Ravens at Cincinnati Bengals

Team defense: Pittsburgh Steelers, vs. Cleveland Browns
Yahoo! Ownership: 42%

Once again, any mention of the Browns unveils the streaming defense for this week. Robert Griffin III will miss Sunday’s game due to a concussion, and Cody Kessler is in line to start under center for the Browns.

In Kessler’s last start, in Week 11 against the Steelers, he was forced from the game with his second concussion in a short time frame. In that game, Pittsburgh allowed just nine points and registered eight sacks with two forced turnovers and a fumble recovery for a touchdown. In four of their last five games, the Steelers’ defense has registered multiple sacks.

Pittsburgh’s defense is available enough to qualify as a streamer, and there’s really no better matchup on the Week 17 slate.

Others To Consider: Houston Texans, at Tennessee Titans; Buffalo Bills at New York Jets; Indianapolis Colts, vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
