NASCAR DFS DraftKings Lineup Advice: Texas Speedway 4/9/17

The NASCAR Monster Energy Cup travels to Fort Worth, Texas to race at another 1.5 mile intermediate track at Texas Motor Speedway.     One thing that is new for this race is that the track has been repaved and the new surface will be much smoother than what the drivers are used to.   The best drivers for this race will be the ones who can log meaningful laps at practice to not only get a feel for the new surface, but for his/her team to make the proper adjustments for the main event.    This race will contain 334 laps.

My Top 4 Drivers for the O’Reilly Auto Parts 500

Kevin Harvick($10,000):     Harvick swept Practice 1 and Qualifying with the fastest times for both.  Steward-Haas has definitely supplied him this week with an elite car and Harvick could easily have the most laps lead in this race since he is in the Pole Position.   Harvick and his team are desperate for a win, as he is frustrated with his inconsistent performance.

Brad Keselowski($10,500):    Keselowski had a great car this week qualifying for the 5th spot.   This is a definite momentum pick as he has been finishing in the Top 5 for most of the races this year.   And oh, by the way, he held off a dominant Kyle Busch to win at Martinsville last week for his 2nd win of the year, the only driver with more than one win.

Kyle Busch($9,900):   Busch spun out his car and grazed the wall in practice but sustained enough damage where they had to repair the car.  Busch thought this car was fast, and the team decided to fix this vehicle instead of going to the backup.  Busch won this race last spring, and finished 5th in the fall race.   He failed to make it through inspection as the team was repairing his car, and didn’t log a qualifying lap.  Therefore, Kyle Busch will start in the back at the 34th position, giving him plenty of Place Differential upside.

Martin Truex Jr.($10,200):   Truex is a master at intermediate tracks.   Specifically, he runs well at Texas finishing 4th in last year’s Spring race, and 3rd in last Fall’s race.   He is 3rd overall in Championship points, behind only Kyle Larson and Chase Elliott.

Value Pick

Clint Bowyer($8,800):   Bowyer has rejuvenated his career at Stewart-Haas Racing and is having fun again.   He has three Top 10 finishes in the last four races with an impressive 3rd place finish at Martinsville last weekend.    His Ford Fusion #14 has been fast this week on the new surface at the Texas Speedway.

Kurt Busch($8,000):    The Ford engineering teams this week have produced solid vehicles across all Ford racing teams.   The Top 5 qualifiers are all Fords led by Harvick, and 8 out of the first 12 are also Ford Fusions.   Kurt Busch’s team has steadily worked to get his car faster this week as seen with his progressively improving practice speeds.   Kurt Busch starts 8th, and is a great value at $8,000.

Sleeper

Trevor Bayne($6,900):    Speaking of Ford Fusions, Trevor Bayne is having a great week in practice and qualifying for Roush Fenway Racing with a Top 13 car.   He will start 12th and is a great pick this week for your lineups at $6,900.
