Top Plays
Carlos Martinez
Martinez will face a righty-heavy Blue Jays team in Busch Stadium. The Blue Jays lose their DH in this series, and take a huge park hit compared to the Rogers Center. I like the price of Martinez on DraftKings where he is under $9K.
Noah Syndergaard
Syndergaard will face the Braves in Citi Field. The Braves are a weak offense and rank just 25th in WRC+ against righties, but they also don’t strike out that much (6th lowest K% against righties). Syndergaard has a lot of built in strikeouts, so if he can just avoid Freddie Freeman’s bat, I like his chances of going 7+ innings and getting the win.
A.J. Pollock
I’ve been on Pollock for awhile and he’s continued to produce. He can steal bases, has some power, and has solid hitters behind him to drive him home and turn over the batting order. For some reason, he continues to be underpriced. He’s averaging 13.75 DraftKings points per game over his last eight games, and while I don’t necessarily think hot streaks are predictive, it’s nice to know he’s been getting on base. He’ll face Trevor Cahill, who is a decent pitcher, but at just $4,200 on DraftKings, I’m starting all of my lineups with Pollock and two top pitchers.
Jaff Decker
If he leads off again, he’s almost a lock due to his price. Decker is the minimum on DraftKings and will allow you to pay up for pitching or fit in another Coors bat. He hasn’t been great from the lead off spot, but even a hit and a run scored will be enough to make it worth putting Decker into your lineups.
Coors Bats
Coors field has been disappointing to me this season. I’ve only loaded up on Coors bats once this year, and it didn’t work out well. With the insanely high prices, I don’t think I’ll have any Coors hitters in my cash game lineups again on Wednesday. If you choose Coors bats, you basically have to avoid the top pitchers, which is not my preferred cash game strategy. That being said, Bryce Harper, Charlie Blackmon, Nolan Arenado, Carlos Gonzalez, Trea Turner and Daniel Murphy are all near the top of their position in projected points for this slate.
Notes
Brian Dozier is a fantastic tournament play against Cole Hamels. Dozier has a great shot at taking Hamels deep and very few people will be on Dozier due to matchup and price.
Jake Lamb is another Diamondbacks hitter who is simply too cheap. I’ll likely save money at third base and plug Lamb into my cash game lineups.
Many factors can change between the time I write this article and the time lineups lock. I’ll do my best to update the article, so checking back frequently is encouraged. You can also ask questions on Twitter @fantasbeast15. I’ll do my best to get to all of them!
