MLB DFS Pitcher Chart & Lineup Advice – 5/4/2017

The pitcher chart is located under my top plays!
Top Plays
Max Scherzer
Scherzer is the top play facing a righty-heavy Diamondbacks team. The Diamondback strike out 23.3% of the time and will take a park hit playing in Nationals Park. Scherzer is the biggest favorite on the day and has the lowest OTT (see pitcher chart). His price is affordable given his ceiling and will be the first player in my lineups on Thursday.
Adam Wainwright
Wainwright had his best start of the season against the Brewers in Miller Park. The Brewers strike out a ton against righties and take a big park hit with this game in Busch Stadium. If Ryan Braun is out again, Wainwright becomes my preferred SP2. Even if Braun plays, Wainwright is in the conversation.
Ian Kennedy
Kennedy will face the White Sox in Kauffman Stadium. The White Sox are dead last in wRC+ against righties and strike out at the 4th highest percentage in the league. Kennedy is my favorite GPP pitcher and could make a case for SP2 on DraftKings.
Brian Dozier/Miguel Sano
Dozier and Sano will face Jharel Cotton in Target Field. Sano has the third highest home run projection on the day and Dozier has the fifth highest. Cotton has only given up one home run this season, but his HR/FB percentage is just 2.9%. League average usually sits around 10%, so I’m expecting Cotton to give up a few more home runs in the future, hopefully starting today.
Khris Davis
Davis is a guy I’ve had a hard time getting right this season. He always has power upside and has hit ten home runs already this year. His biggest issue is he strikes out a lot, so it’s best to target him against pitchers with a low K%. Gibson has struck out just 12.2% of batters this season. I have Davis tied with Sano for the third highest home run projection on the day, and for just $4,000 on DraftKings, Davis makes a great case to be in my lineups today.
Mike Trout
Trout has the highest home run projection on the day and also the highest point projection. He gets to face lefty Ariel Miranda who’s given up five home runs in just 26 innings this season. Trout is expensive, but if I’m paying up at a position, Trout will be the batter I pay for.
Notes
Jaff Decker and Matt Joyce are great punts if they hit at the top of the order.
Corey Dickerson and Logan Morrison are also solid semi-punts at their prices.
The pitching chart will be updated often. Make sure to check back for the newest information, especially if a column is currently incomplete!
