MLB DFS Pitcher Chart & Lineup Advice – 5/31/2017

The pitcher chart is located under my top plays!
Top Plays
Max Scherzer
Scherzer gets the Giants in AT&T Park. This is a better real-life matchup, than fantasy matchup. The Giants are last in the majors in wRC+ against righties, and Scherzer will have a nice park upgrade in AT&T. Unfortunately, the Giants have the fifth lowest strikeout percentage, making it difficult for Scherzer to access his ceiling. I still think Scherzer is a solid cash game option, but I may be looking elsewhere in tournaments.
Jacob deGrom
DeGrom will match up against the Brewers in Citi Field. The Brewers are without Ryan Braun, Eric Thames has been cold, and Keon Broxton (38% strikeout percentage) has been leading off. Milwaukee has the third highest strikeout percentage and has a below-average wRC+ against righties. DeGrom is expensive, but is priced $1,300 lower than Scherzer on DraftKings if you need the savings.
James Paxton
Paxton will make his first start since returning from the DL. He was electric at the beginning of the year, recording 32+ DK points in three of his six starts. He will see the Rockies in Safeco Field and will hold the platoon advantage against some of the Rockies top hitters. The Rockies strike out the sixth most in the majors against lefties, and have a below-average wRC+. Paxton is one of my favorite GPP plays and may be an SP2 consideration for cash games if we know more about his pitch count.
Mookie Betts/Red Sox
The Red Sox will see Mike Pelfrey and have the highest team run total on the day. Betts has the ability to get on base multiple times, hit home runs, and steal bases. That is exactly what you want from a lead off hitter, and the reason why I’ve played Betts frequently this year. He’s priced below $5K on DraftKings, so as long as you’re not paying for both Scherzer and deGrom, Betts should be in your lineup. The Red Sox are also one of my favorite stacks for GPPs.
Rays Bats
I’m also a big fan of the Rays bats for tournaments. Most of them are too expensive for cash games, but they have a great matchup and a high team run total. I’ll be looking at Corey Dickerson, Logan Morrison, Evan Longoria, and Kevin Kiermaier as part of my Rays stacks.
Punts
Without any clear SP2 options, I may be looking to pair Scherzer with deGrom in cash games and punting most of my lineup. Here are my favorite punts:
C – Salvador Perez
1B – Matt Adams
2B – Josh Rutledge
SS – Alcides Escobar
OF – Odubel Herrera
